Richardson Scores his First

Menomonie, Wisconsin, on July 22, 2022, Markquart Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Fiat, of Menomonie and Cardinal Glass Industries of Menomonie sponsored the racing action with the WISSOTA Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks, and RCS Hornets all in action. Winners on the evening included Jason Richardson, Ron Mahder, Tom Karis, Andrew Hanson, and Brandon Gleiter.
The WISSOTA Modifieds had two heats with Shane Halopka and Adam Hensel each earning victories. The feature had two yellows within the first laps, but thereafter it ran green all the way to the checkered flag. It was Jason Richardson taking the initial lead with Cory Williams and AJ Roschen going door to door for second. The final restart of the event saw seventh starting Adam Hensel drive into second and set chase after Richardson out front.
At the halfway point, Richardson was looking stout leading in the high line, but Hensel was lurking in his shadow. Halopka had moved to third and eighth starting Ashley Anderson was running closely in fourth. Cory Mahder had also raced from tenth to fifth.
With three laps remaining Anderson overtook third position and Hensel turned up the heat even further on Richardson for the lead. Richardson led at the white flag, but Hensel used a power slider in turns three and four to take over the point coming to the checkered flag. Richardson, seeking his first ever victory outside of carts earlier in his career, was not done though. He was not giving up on this one and crossed under Hensel, got a run down the front stretch, and won at the line by a 0.039 second margin of victory. Hensel finished a very stout and close second as Anderson, Halopka, and Mahder rounded out the top five.
Joe Miller and Ron Mahder each won WISSOTA Super Stock heats and Jonathan Dachel lea the first lap of the feature from the pin. Ron Mahder moved to the lead below Dachel on lap two and he set out to run away and hide. Jesse Redetzke overtook second, but the only slow down of the race gave the position back to Dachel. The restart looked as if Redetzke had something for the leader as he overtook second and challenged for the front. It wasn’t to be though as Mahder held strong and then began to pull away to win in an impressive resurgence of his dominance of days of old.
Redetzke finished runner up as Ben Hillman used his trademark high groove to move from running fifth with two laps remaining, after starting eighth, to finish third. It was Andrew Davis in fourth and Jason Quarders scored in fifth.
Josh Wahlstrom and Tom Karis won the WISSOTA Midwest Modified heats. Speaking in renewed fire from days gone past, Tom Karis proved he can still get it done, as he too won the feature, and just like Mahder, it has been two weeks running. However, firstly it was Reese Schlosser looking very good out front for the initial three laps. Karis caught him though, after starting fourth on the field. Karis scooted into the night and although there was one stoppage for a spin, it didn’t stop him from pulling out to a lead that was beyond solid. Nick Ayotte raced from seventh to second as Jay Richardson, Austin Chyba, and Travis Anderson rounded out the top five.
Braden Brauer won the WISSOTA Street Stock heat as he was chased to the finish by Andrew Hanson. The fortunes were turned as Brauer chased Andrew Hanson for the feature win. Hanson led every lap as Brauer tired in vain to snatch the point away but finished second. Kolton Brauer, Ron Hanestad, and Dustin Doughty filled out the top five.
Preston Coombs and Brandon Gleiter each scored RCS Hornet heats, but it was Vanessa Seipel looking very strong out front of the feature as she overtook the lead from Justin King on lap two. Her advantage disappeared after a multicar caution in turns three and four, but she held strong as Roy Cooper and Gleiter ran door to door in second. With four laps remaining, Gleiter had taken second and then took over the lead. He led Seipel, who didn’t go away, to the checkered flag. Cooper finished third, Coombs fourth, with King in fifth.
