MROCZKOWSKI EDGES VAN STRATEN TO SCORE IMCA STOCK CAR WIN AT OUTAGAMIE SPEEDWAY

By Edward Anschutz

(Seymour, WI) 8/21/20 Race Report- Josh Mroczkowski took the lead with 5 laps remaining and went on to win the IMCA Stock Car feature by inches over Travis Van Straten at Outagamie Speedway. A total of 115 cars checked in to do battle and there were 29 IMCA Modifieds, 26 IMCA Northern Sport Mods, 20 IMCA Stock Cars, 20 IMCA Sport Compacts and 20 Unified Street Stocks.

Tyler Wendt raced from the outside pole to the lead on the opening lap of the IMCA Stock Car feature. Josh Mroczkowski came to call just past the midway point to take the lead away from Wendt down low. The duo traded the lead over the next few laps with Mroczkowski racing back to the top spot on lap 15. Mroczkowski moved to the upper groove which allowed Logan Leary and Travis Van Straten to race 3-wide under the leader. As the checker flew it was a 2-horse race of Van Straten and Mroczkowski racing to the finish line as the pair came across the stripe in a visual dead heat. Transponder scoring gave the victory to Mroczkowski by a mere .049 seconds. Van Straten was second, Wendt had his best run of the year to place third, Leary was fourth and point leader Eric Arneson completed the top five.

In IMCA Modified action it was Chase Parker taking command of the race early on as point leader Johnny Whitman raced to the runner up position with a handful of laps remaining. Whitman raced to the back bumper of the leader. On the final lap Whitman through a slider coming into turn one to take the lead. Parker made the crossover back under Whitman to regain the top, holding it all the way to the checkers.  Whitman had to settle for second at the pay window, Josh Long was third, JJ Andersen took fourth and Jason Ebert rounded out the top five.

Aaron Butterbrodt led all 20 laps on his way to his first IMCA Sport Mod feature of the season. Evan Staeck chased Butterbrodt all the way to the checkers to earn a solid second place, Ryan Schmidt had a great run with a third, Jayden Schmidt took fourth and Travis Rhoades was fifth.

Brooke Diefenthaler etched her name in the record books by scoring her first career feature win in the Unified Street Stocks.

Matt Brehmer was once again victorious in the IMCA Sport Compacts.
