Eagle Valley Speedway, July 10, 2020; The Eagle Valley Speedway returned on Friday night after racing the previous Sunday evening over the holiday weekend.  Winners included Mike Anderson, Curt Myers, Shane Halopka, Danny Richards, Travis Hazelton, and Danny Halterman.

After a rough first attempt, the WISSOTA Modifieds were able to get underway as Mike Anderson quickly asserted control over the field.  He left little doubt of his dominance as he ran unchallenged to his third victory of the season at Eagle Valley Speedway and extended his lead in the points championship.  Anderson was also the single heat winner earlier in the night.

Jason Richardson started on the pole and ran solidly to a runner up finish.  Sam Fankhauser moved from eighth on the grid to finish third at the checkers besting Curt Myers after a several lap side by side battle.  Mark Hanson rounded out the top five.

The WISSOTA Super Stock heats were won by Tommy Richards and Curt Myers.  At feature time, it was two-wide for the first lap with CJ Wagner and Jim Harris before Harris claimed the position on lap two.  Terran Spacek joined the fray and along with Myers the three moved side by side for the lead on lap five.  Myers found the point and Tommy Richards moved into third as he blistered the track down low.

On lap 13, Richards moved to second and quickly closed on the leader, but he clipped a tire in the corner and his car began to lose speed.  A quick caution reset the field and Myers had an outstanding restart allowing him to scoot away from the pack.  Spacek overtook Richards for position and on lap 18 Richards retired from the event. It was Myers, Spacek, and a late charging Chad Gullixson in third.  Wagner and Harris both had fine runs in the top five.

Two WISSOTA Midwest Modified heats saw Tony Bahr and Shane Halopka grab wins.  At feature time though, they shared row four on the grid.  Brady Larson took the lead early from the outside of the front row, but a four-car melee slowed the pace.  The restart saw Bahr already challenging up front and he quickly claimed the lead.  Josh Smith was also very fast as he moved to second position.  A caution flag flew again, and the restart showed that Halopka had moved into the top three.

On lap seven, Halopka swept into the lead and began to distance the field.  Behind him, Bahr too had moved to an advantage over third.  A final caution flag flew for a spinning Shadow Kirchner.  Under green, Bahr pressured Halopka and moved him higher and higher on the raceway as the two drove door to door up front.  Halopka was able to take the point and stretch his advantage to the checkered flag as, once again, Bahr put distance between he and Smith in third.  Jake Stai had the most impressive run I have seen him have as he used the upper groove to drive home in fourth and Dylan Goettl recovered from and earlier caution to drive back up into the top five.

The WISSOTA Street Stock feature was led early by Adam Soltis and Ron Hanestad as they drove door to door for the advantage.  Behind them, they raced three deep for second.  On Lap three, Soltis took sole possession of the lead as Danny Richards raced into second.  A caution slowed the pace and the restart saw Richards move beside Soltis up front.  They remained even for nearly two laps when Richards inched to the lead.

Behind Richards, Hunter Anderson was quick as he moved into second and Cody Kummer found third.  Kummer moved below Anderson and into second and began to reel in the leader.  He didn’t have enough laps though as Richards scored the win over Kummer, Anderson, Soltis, as Dalton Hazelton nipped Cole Richards for fifth.  Jared Linder and Kummer won their heats.

The WISSOTA Pure Stock heats were claimed by Travis Hazelton and George Richards as Hazelton went on to win the feature.  It wasn’t easy though, as Mike Grover took the early lead and looked strong as Pat Smith raced into second.  A couple of separate yellows kept things close, and it wasn’t until lap six that Hazelton had moved side by side with Grover for the lead.  Richards was seen moving through the crowd and he overtook second, but shortly thereafter, he broke down and rolled to a stop before he could clear the raceway.  It was Hazelton the remainder of the way to the win over James Rahn who impressively raced himself into a runner up finish. Grover was scored in third over Smith and twelfth starting Nicholas Hazelton earned a top five.

Derrek Krumrie won the EVS Hornet heat, but Danny Halterman moved from the outside of row one to the lead and never looked back at feature time.  Krumrie finished second over Mike Warga and Craig Oas.
