ZDROIK REMAINS UNDEFEATED IN EAGLE RIVER SPEEDWAY LATE MODEL ACTION
(Hometown racer doubles down on mod, late model features)
(EAGLE RIVER, WI) July 20 – 2021 has been a season to remember for Jason Zdroik.
The Eagle River racer, who has been pulling double duty wheeling both a late model and a B modified all year, pulled off another double – winning features in both divisions here Tuesday night.
In the late model main, Zdroik slipped into the lead early and was never headed, keeping Duane Dunbar and company at bay, beating Dunbar by a full straightaway at the checkers.
The fete was not quite so easy in the B modified feature. Hometown driver Dustin White led a good portion of the feature. Zdroik was able to muster up a late race pass on a restart with three laps remaining to score the win.
With his double feature wins Tuesday Zdroik has hit a total of 10 features wins here on the season – six in the late model and four in the B modified.
Hometown driver David Blackberg scored his second stock car feature of the year while Minocqua’s Brian Mahler fended off Phillips Roger Walker to win the pure stock feature.
Point leader Dave Dishaw of Ontonogan, Michigan extended his point lead in the street stock class with a feature win while Eagle River’s Tommie Springer won her second straight 600 micro feature.
The 300 micro sprint features were won by Kaeden Bethel of Tomahawk and Dorchester’s Oakley Schwantes.
Racing resumes Tuesday July 27 with a $1,500-to-win feature in the stock car class presented by Coffen Construction. A number of top flight racers from northeast Wisconsin are expected to tow north for the bigger payday.
