VETERAN DUANE DUNBAR RETURNS TO EAGLE RIVER SPEEDWAY VICTORY LANE

(EAGLE RIVER, WI) September 4 – Former track champion Duane Dunbar showed the youngsters at Eagle River Speedway that the former track champion still has “it.”

Dunbar squeezed past early race leader Jonathon Miller of Eagle River on lap six to take the lead and carefully sifted his way through lapped cars in the waning laps to capture the B mod feature at Eagle River Speedway Friday night.

The former WISSOTA super stock champion kept the top spot through a bevy of mid race cautions. Eagle River’s Jason Zdroik moved up to the second spot by lap ten and began mounting a charge and reeling in Dunbar, but came up short at the checkers, settling for second at the pay window.

Hometown driver Jason Zdroik captured the ERS late model feature.

Tomahawk visitor Travis Friske scored an impressive third in his first visit to the track in ’20. Jesse Aho and Bruce Belland placed fourth and fifth, respectively.

Third generation racer Devin Snellenberger of Pulaski took the lead at the drop of the green and fought off his father, track champion Rod Snellenberger to capture the caution free stock car feature.

Laona’s Troy Larock captured the wire-to-wire Unified street stock feature while Prentice’s Brent Mindock captured the visiting class pure stock feature.

Minocqua’s Cole Stella had the field covered in the 600 micro sprints, winning the feature by nearly a half a lap.

Mya Towne of Boulder captured her first 300 micro sprint feature win of her career while Mason Zdroik captured the other division main event.

This is the final event of the year at the third-mile, clay oval. The Zdroik family want to thank the race teams, fans and track employees for a successful 2020 season – a season that moved forward in the most challenging of times.
