USRA Late Models Added to Saturday of Northern Nationals; Cade Nelson’s First Ever Race at His Hometown Track.
The USRA Late Models have been added to Saturday Nights portion of the 35th Annual XR Northern Nationals presented by Bay Lock & Security, which means 13-year-old Hermantown, MN racer Cade Nelson, son of Darrel & Missy Nelson, will make his hometown debut at Gondik Law Speedway.
“We had been working on this during the second half of the season and just couldn’t get a date that worked for everyone; however, we started talking to drivers last week and Badger Excavating and Willow River Saloon helped us out with sponsoring the USRA Late Models” says Joe Stariha, Owner & Promoter of Gondik Law Speedway.
Cade is coming off his fourth feature win of the year, this past Saturday night at Cedar Lake Speedway and became the youngest track champion in Cedar Lake Speedway history. “It’s perfect timing for this announcement because we know that there are a lot of Cade Nelson fans in our area, and they haven’t had a chance to see him race in his rookie season as he only is able to race his class of car in Southern Wisconsin” says Stariha.
The 35th Annual XR Northern Nationals presented by Bay Lock & Security starts on Wednesday with an open practice session and the 4th Annual “XR Showdown in Souptown”, which is free to fans.
Thursday night, WISSOTA Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Pure Stocks and Hornets will kick off the official night one of Northern Nationals and it will also include the first visit of the year by the Northern Renegade Winged Sprint Series.
Friday night brings back the highly anticipated Bumper to Bumper IRA 410 Outlaw Sprint Cars back to Gondik Law Speedway for the first time since 2019. The WISSOTA Modifieds, Super Stocks and Midwest Modifieds will round out the classes for night two.
We will conclude the Northern Nationals on Saturday night as we bring in the WISSOTA Late Models to join the Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds and the USRA Late Models.
