SNELLENBERGER SHADES STANKOWSKI, SNAGS EAGLE RIVER SPEEDWAY $1,500 PAYDAY

(NOSSER, ZELTEN COP FIRST ’21 FEATURE FLAGS)

(EAGLE RIVER, WI) July 27 – Defending track champion Rod Snellenberger survived multiple caution periods and a late race surge from Wausau’s Mitch Stankowski to score the $1,500-to-win Northwoods Stock Car Shootout at Eagle River Speedway here Tuesday night.

Meanwhile Phillips Mickey Nosser notched his first feature win of the season in the B modifieds while Clearwater’s Dan Zelten scored his first feature win in the late model class. In doing so Zelten snapped Jason Zdroik’s six-in-a-row win streak in the division.

The stock car feature was plagued with multiple cautions in the first four laps. Snellenberger, who started fourth on the grid, began pressuring early race leader Jason Eisel by lap five. Snellenberger muscled his way inside of Eisel on a lap seven restart. Snellenberger kept the top spot through more caution periods. The race was called at lap seventeen by track management after the race’s eighth caution. Stankowski settled for second place, followed by Dean Maurer, Eric Mahlik and Ryan Glembin.

Zelten held off a late race charge by veteran Duane Dunbar in the waning laps to score the late model feature while point leader Dave Dishaw extended his point lead with a caution free feature win in the street stocks.

Boulder Junction’s Mya Towne scored the 600 micro feature while Addison Dishaw and Kaeden Halsey both swept action in the 300 micro divisions.

Racing resumes next Tuesday, August 3 as the ERS late models will battle for a $1,000-to-win top prize. A full six division show is on tap with the first green flag is set to fly at 730 p.m. Fans are encouraged to please check the track’s website Facebook page or you can email patzdroik@yahoo.com or call (715) 891 1870.
