SKUBAL LEADS WIRE-TO-WIRE IN EAGLE RIVER B MOD GO

(EAGLE RIVER, WI) Aug. 8 – Rhinelander’s Judd Skubal sweated out a caution with seven laps remaining and survived a fierce challenge from Jesse Aho to capture his first career B mod feature win at Eagle River Speedway Tuesday.

The driver from Hodag country led wire-to-wire for the win, which was anything but a gimme.

Skubal was hounded most of the contest by defending track champion Aho. Skubal hung on through a caution period for a lap 13 spin and went on to win his first feature flag here in the division. Aho settled for second, followed by Jason Zdroik, Wisconsin Rapids visitor Isiah Rowe and Austin Zdroik.

Hometown driver Ryan Glembin fended off fierce challenges from fellow Eagle River racers David Blackberg and Jonathan Miller and crossed the line first to win what appeared to be his second feature flag here of the year in the stock car class.

However, a post-race inspection found Glembin was disqualified with a motor infraction, handing the win to the second place finisher Jonathan Miller, his third victory here of the year.

The race was a scrappy affair, as Blackberg quickly weaved his way through traffic and caught Glembin, who was the race leader early on. The two traded paint on more than one occasion. After a lap 13 yellow tightened the field, the scrum ensued although this time Miller made it a three-horse race for the top spot.

With two laps to go Miller ducked underneath Blackberg to cross the line second but was later awarded the win. Blackberg, Patrick Farley Jr. and Matt Cleary placed second through fourth, respectively.

Jason Zdroik captured the late model feature while Sugar Camp’s Jason Eiesel continued his dominance in the street stock class by winning both his heat and feature race in the street stock class.

Woodruff’s Max Nowak led every lap en route to victory in the 600 micro sprint feature. Nowak also collected the heat win earlier in the night, scoring a clean sweep of the division for the night.

Hometown driver Mason Meier snatched the lead on the first circuit and cruised to a nearly half lap lead en route to winning the caution free, 12 lap 300 micro sprint feature. Meier netted a clean sweep for the evening, winning the earlier heat race.

Weekly racing will resume on August 15. The pure stock division will be in action along with the track’s regular six classes. The first green flag flies at 7 p.m. For further information fans are advised to check the track’s Facebook page.
