Rice Lake Speedway Returns To Action on June 18th

By Ed Reichert

Rice Lake WI – After a one week break for everyone to enjoy Aquafest, the Rice Lake Speedway will return to action with three big shows before the 4th of July holiday.

With their five class program featured all three nights, the Speedway will return to action with a big show scheduled for June 18th. It will be the track’s Race of Champions qualifier night with the feature winners automatically qualified for the WISSOTA Race of Champions event to be contested during the WISSOTA 100 at the Sure Step I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls Minnesota in September. This is a prestigious event to win and with the draw/redraw lineup format in place for that night, visiting drivers hunting a space for the ROC race are likely to battle it out with the weekly racers for that opportunity.

On June 25th, another five class program will be held with the special event on that night being the bike races at intermission. This has become a popular event for the kids and the adult class tends also to produce some interesting racing and outlandish costumes in some cases.

Finally, the holiday weekend will be celebrated with the annual Firecracker special which this year will be held on Saturday night, July 2nd with a raindate for this program only being on July 3rd. The fireworks program that is a part of this night is a long standing tradition since it was started many years ago and is one night looked forward to by race fans and casual fans alike. This is one night when fans will arrive extra early to the track to guarantee their favorite seats.

For all three of these programs, gates will open for fans at 5 pm with the draw cut off for drivers being 6:30 pm with racing to follow by 7 pm. WISSOTA sanctioned Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks and Pure Stocks will all be in action.
