Rice Lake Speedway Preps Continue

Rice Lake WI, April 1- Preparations continue at a frenetic pace as new owners of the Rice Lake Speedway, Kolby and Dean Kiehl along with Dick Kalow, race to get the track ready for the opening night of April 20th. The planned opener is still on at this point as many improvements have already been accomplished with many yet to go.

The scale will be moved this week to the new tech building in the pits, the new LED track lights are ready to be mounted on their poles and the new sound sytem is also ready to be installed. The new wheel fence surrounding the track is also scheduled to go up this week.

New track and event sponsors including Rice Lake Weighing Systems, emr and McCain Foods have been announced with more expected in the next few weeks.

The recently completed successful Cedar Mall car show saw the judging done by Mall employees name Sam Fankhauser as having Best of Show. Second place went to Josh Bach and third to Trenten Holub.

Additions to the season race schedule have also been announced. They include adding the WISSOTA Late Models for a second show on July 27th. The Modifieds will have a special event on May 11th and the USRA Late Models will be added to the Labor Day weekend Dairyland Dash , racing both nights of the doubleheader program. More additions to the schedule are also still possible.

The speedway has also announced a new starting time for the 2024 racing season with pit gates opening at 3 pm, grandstands opening at 4 pm. The cut off for the drivers will be at 5:30 pm with racing starting at 6 pm sharp. Special events, however, may have different starting times.
