Rice Lake Speedway Hopeful The Third Time Will Be The Charm

By Ed Reichert

Rice Lake WI, May 1 – The management of the Rice Lake Speedway is hopeful that after a couple of trying weeks with little cooperation from the weather the 2023 racing season, the seventy first consecutive season of racing for the track just North of Rice Lake, will finally commence on Saturday night, May 6th.

As of Monday morning and with a favorable weather forecast for the rest of the week, all systems are “Go” for a Saturday night opener at the third mile clay oval. “Everything is drying up nicely at the track and with a warmer weather forecast for the rest of the week, we should be ready to go on Saturday,” stated track co-owner Dave Adams on Monday.

All five WISSOTA sanctioned classes that normally compete at the speedway will be in racing action with a full program across the board. Pit gates will open at 4 pm, the grandstands at 5 pm, the draw cutoff for the racers is 6:30 pm with hot laps to commence at that same time and racing to follow directly.

Important to racers that need to shake down new or improved equipment before Saturday night, the Wednesday night practice session is also a go with that event slated from 6-9 pm. Call Dave Adams with any questions on that or check the speedway face book page for updates.

Only one regular Saturday night event is scheduled before the first special takes place when the WISSOTA Late Models will take to the track on Saturday night, May 13th for the Trackside Collectibles 40 along with a full program in the speedway’s other five classes. It should be noted that the speedway has decided to utilize the passing points format for the Late Models for that event rather than the draw/redraw format utilized in previous years.

Call Adams at 715-205-2861 or Mitch Hansen at 715-205-1122 with any questions.
