Misfortune returns at Plymouth, Hagar Nelson Memorial on tap for Pokorski Motorsports

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) June 15, 2021 –After equaling his career-best A-main showing in his last outing behind the wheel of the No. 4 Pokorski Motorsport 360 Sprint Car, second-year driver Alex Pokorski of West Bend found the going a bit tougher in Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car action at The Plymouth Dirt Track at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, June 12.

With 35 PDTR 360 Sprint Cars signed in, Pokorskidrew the seventh starting spot in the third 10-lap heat race. On lap 2, Pokorski worked around the slowing machine of Cole Possi to take over the sixth spot.

After a yellow flag for Possi’s stalled car in turn two on lap 2, Pokorski held his position over the final eight laps to come home sixth.

In the second 12-lap 360 Sprint Car B main, Pokorski lined up on the outside of the front row next to polesitter Austin Hartmann needing a top-three showing to earn his third consecutive A-main berth.

However, Pokorski was involved in a four-car incident as the field got bottled up in turn two on the initialstart. The contact forced Pokorski to head to the work area to check over any damage. After returning to thetrack for a complete restart, Pokorski started sixth.

Pokorski dropped back to seventh on the opening lapbefore working past Chris Larson in turn three to take sixth. After a caution slowed the field on lap 5, Pokorski moved up to fifth, which is where he finished the race, falling two spots short of an A-main transfer position.

“It seems like we can’t get a good draw to start in the front half of a heat race this season,” Pokorski said. “Maybe next week will be our week to get a good draw.I ended up losing a left rear shock in the heat race, which made the car pretty tight. Luckily, I was able to get a spot and start on the front row of the B main. In the B main, I made a mistake on the start and washed up in the middle of the corner. Things got three wide and I got tangled up with a few other drivers, but luckily I was able to continue.”

The Pokorski Motorsports team is set to compete in a Midwest Sprint Car Association doubleheader starting with the third annual Hagar Nelson Memorial Race at Outagamie Speedway Powered by EWSC Racing in Seymour, Wis. on Friday, June 18.

29th year veteran Paul Pokorski will return to the seat of the No. 4 Pokorski Motorsports car for the special Hagar Nelson Memorial event, which celebrates the life of one’s of the team’s biggest supporters, who passed away in 2019.

The MSA 360 Sprint Cars will be joined by the IMCA Modifieds, Stock Cars, Sport Compacts and United Dirt Street Stocks with racing scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.

The team will cap the weekend at The Plymouth Dirt Track at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, Wis. with Alex Pokorski again slated to be behind the wheel on Saturday, June 19

Grandstand gates open at 4:30 p.m. with hot laps at 5:30 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m.
