LATE RACE HEROICS NETS LACROSSE IMCA MODIFIED MAIN
By Edward Anschutz
(Seymour, WI) 5/14/21 Outagamie Speedway Race Report- 152 checked in to do battle at Outagamie Speedway powered by EWSC. There were 27 IMCA Modifieds, 33 IMCA Stock Cars, 37 IMCA Sport Mods, 29 IMCA Sport Compacts and 26 Unified Street Stocks.
Action was halted twice for red flags as Algoma’s Randy Theys ended up head on into the wall during one of the IMCA Sport Mod qualifiers. Theys was conscious and talking to track personal but was brought by Ambulance to the hospital for further evaluation. Soon as we know more, we will post on our Facebook page. The other stoppage in action came when IMCA Sport Compact racer Taylor Junk broke a right rear spindle which sent his car barrel rolling. He emerged unscathed but with a totaled racecar.
Wyatt Block Jr & Marcus Yarie traded the lead early in the IMCA Modified headliner. Yarie was able to work the high side, gaining enough momentum to pull away from Block. Cautions kept the field bunched allowing Block and Benji LaCrosse to mount a challenge. LaCrosse set his sights on Yarie with 5 to go. With Yarie running the top side LaCrosse began to peak his nose down low under the leader. With 1 lap remaining Yarie changed to the low groove as LaCrosse went sailing by up top for the win and a clean sweep of the night. Yarie has to settle for second, Block as third, Justin Ritchie ran fourth and Cody Schroeder completed the top five.
In IMCA Stock Car action Justin Jacobson paced the opening 8 laps until Brandon Czarapata took over the top spot. Jacobson came roaring back, closing in on your leader until his car suffered a mechanical problem, ending his night. Czarapata pulled away to the win. Defending champion Eric Arneson placed second, Logan Leary had a strong run to place third, Brett Wenzel and Travis Van Straten, rounded out the top five.
Defending IMCA Sport Mod track champion “T-Sob” Tyler Sobiesczyk took the lead from Tim Sheppard midway through to contest and pulled away to his first win of the young season.
Jesse Krahn kept the bad luck bug at bay and held off a hard charging Tim Warner to score the win in the Unified Street Stocks.
Al Cottrell was victorious in the IMCA Sport Compacts.
