FRIES FLIES TO EAGLE RIVER SPEEDWAY PURE STOCK FEATURE WIN
(EAGLE RIVER, WI) Sept. 1 –Phillips’ Devin Fries dodged several caution periods and went on to collect the pure stock feature win at Eagle River Speedway Friday.
Fries, who started fourth on the grid, motored past Trevor Schumann a few laps into the contest. Fries kept the lead through four caution periods to take the win. Schumann hung on for second place money, followed by Dave Bennett, Bobby Hommerding and Teagan Melton.
Other feature winners on night No. 1 of the season ending “One Last Weekend Long Blast” were Twin Lakes, Michigan’s Cooper Aho (300 micro sprint) who scored a last lap pass to earn the victory. The other feature flag went to Chippewa Falls’ Greg Manor (Dairyland Vintage Series).
Qualifying heats were run in the B modified, stock car and street stock classes tonight.
On Saturday night, September 2 feature races will be run in several classes, including full programs for both the grand national 500 & 600 micro sprint and USRA-style late model classes. Main events will also be run for B-mod, stock car and street stock divisions.
Racing resumes tomorrow (Saturday) night with the first green flag flying at 6 p.m. For further information fans are advised to check the track’s Facebook page.
