WORLD OF OUTLAWS SPRINTS LARRY HILLERUD MEMORIAL, OFF TRACK ACTIVITIES HIGHLIGHT WILMOT RACEWAY UPCOMING SCHEDULE
(Wilmot, Wis., Saturday, June 22, 2024)–Wisconsin will welcome the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series for the final time this year during the Federated Auto Parts Larry Hillerud Memorial Badger 40 at Wilmot Raceway Friday and Saturday, July 12 & 13.
In addition to on track action will be all sorts of activities and music starting Thursday, July 11, through Saturday, July 13, winding up with the usual flea market on the Kenosha County Fairgrounds Sunday, July 14. The planned USAC Amsoil National Sprints event at Wilmot Saturday, June 22 was cancelled due to heavy overnight storms and prediction for additional heavy rains and storms. This marked the third oval track event lost to weather out of seven scheduled this season.
Next up for the 1/3-mile clay oval is Saturday, June 29 with 11-75 Sports Complex IRA Lightning Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, Unified Street Stocks and B&L Office Furniture presented by Great American Tire & Auto Repair Bandit 4-Cylinder Stock Cars. Grandstands open 5 p.m. with admission $15 for ages 13 & over, ages 12 & under admitted free. Pits open at 3 p.m. with all pit passes $30. Biggie Paws will have an information table about their adoption, fostering and donation programs.
Off track from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday, June 30 Great American Tire & Auto Repair, 4106 – 78th St. (Old Sears Pershing Plaza), Kenosha will be hosting its annual car show. Wilmot Raceway race cars, Great Lakes Dragaway drag cars, domestic, classic, modern, import, hot rods, as well as motorcycles, are invited to participate. The show is free with entertainment planned. Food and beverages will be available on site.
Independence Celebration car load and fireworks night is next on track for Wilmot Raceway Tuesday, July 2 featuring Liftpro powered by Gandrud Chevrolet/Hepfner Racing Product Wings Wilmot 604 Crate Engine Winged Sprint Cars, Wisconsin AutoMeter Powered By Gandrud Performance/Wilmot Catalyst Exhibits Championship WingLESS Sprints and Bandits. Special grandstand admission is $30.00 per car load provided each passenger is seatbelted paid upon entrance to the fairgrounds. Grandstands open at 5 p.m.with pits opening at 3 p.m. and all pit passes $30.00.
The Kenosha County Fair/Wilmot Raceway World of Outlaws weekend activities begin on Thursday, July 11 with a fish fry by Twisted Quisine Catering 5 until 8 p.m.(or while supplies last), yard games along with Wilmot Raceway Grill and The Garage open for food and beverages. Music provided by Nick Gz 5:30-9:30 p.m. This event is open to the public as well as campers.
On Friday, July 12 will feature baked goods at the Wilmot Raceway Grill 7 until 9 a.m. Lunch will be available 1 until 5 p.m. at Raceway Grill with The Garage open. A scavenger hunt for youngsters is planned. Pits open at 2 p.m. with grandstands opening at 4 p.m. Nashville recording artist Eli Agler & The Faster Horses will perform a concert commencing 30 minutes following conclusion of the race program.
Anderson’s Pure Maple Syrup Pancake Breakfast at $10 per person ages 7 and over. Campers receive 4 complimentary pancake breakfast tickets.
Bill Balog, originally from Alaska now calling Hartland, Wis. home, World of Outlaws Rookie contender, 2023 Wilmot Raceway 410 Winged Sprint Car Champion, and 11-time IRA Winged Sprint Car Champion will have his car on display and sign autographs 8 until 9 a.m.
Raceway Grill and The Garage will be open serving lunch and beverages 2 until 5 p.m.
Pits open at 2 p.m. with grandstands at 4 p.m. Best Dressed Race Gear Contest will be held when stands open.
Red Rock It Band will perform a concert 30 minutes following conclusions of the race program.

The World of Outlaws two-day event will see the best Sprint Car drivers in the country battle for $12,000 paydays both nights at the 1/3-mile track.
California’s Carson Macedo, who’s in contention for the 2024 World of Outlaws title, has turned Wilmot into one of his best tracks, having won the last two Series races there. His win last year started a resurgence for the Jason Johnson Racing driver after a crash a few weeks earlier.
The event will be the final home state weekend for Wisconsin resident Bill Balog. He’s a 23-time winner at Wilmot, most recently winning with the IRA Outlaw Sprint Series in August last year.
In his first return to Wisconsin this year, Balog finished eighth at Beaver Dam Raceway.
They’ll be joined by the likes of 10-time Series champion Donny Schatz – who won at Wilmot in 2019 – current Series points leader David Gravel – who has four Series wins at Wilmot – Sheldon Haudenschild, Michael “Buddy” Kofoid, Logan Schuchart and more.
