WISSOTA Challenge Series at Rice Lake Speedway May 29
By Ed Reichert
Rice Lake WI – The Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series for Late Models will be coming to the Rice Lake Speedway on Saturday night, May 29th. It will be the first of two stops for the Challenge Series to pay a visit to the speedway in 2021 and the first year ever that the track has hosted two series events in one year.
The Structural Building Challenge Series schedule is comprised of twenty events to be contested in the states of Minnesota, South Dakota and Wisconsin with the first events coming up on Memorial Day week and the champion to be crowned on Labor Day weekend at the Hibbing Raceway.
The series kicks off with a bang as three events will be run on opening weekend with the series kicking off on Friday night, May 28th at the Princeton Speedway before the racers travel to Rice Lake on Saturday night. They will then wrap up their racing weekend with a visit to the Granite City Motor Park on Memorial Day night.
The Challenge Series was on hiatus for the 2020 Pandemic plagued racing season and the last appearance for the Challenge Series at Rice Lake was on July 27th, 2019 with Eau Claire’s Jake Redetzke claiming the win.
Coming off a highly successful Trackside Collectibles 40 held at the speedway on May 15th won by Sam Mars, the Late Models are anxious to return to the track and a full field of the best Late Model drivers in WISSOTA is expected to be on hand.
Along with the Late Models race fans on May 29th will be treated to a full racing program for the WISSOTA sanctioned Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks and Pure Stocks while the Modifieds will have the night off.
Warm ups are slated for 6:30 pm on May 29th with racing to begin at 7 pm. Special event pricing will be in effect for this event and information on this race will be available on the speedway face book page or check the speedway website at www.ricelakespeedway.net.
