Wilmot Raceway 6/4/21 All Star / IRA Show
(Wilmot, Wis., Friday, June 4, 2021)–Tyler Courtney of Indianapolis, Indiana scored his fifth All Star Circuit of Champions(ASCOC) feature win of the 2021 campaign by taking the victory in the combined sprintacular with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association (IRA) Sprints on Friday, June 4 at Wilmot Raceway. It was Courtney’s first ever main event win at Wilmot, the original home track of the IRA. The special all sprint car program was sponsored in part by Quality Tire Service Hercules Tire Dealer of Johnsburg, IL. Ian Madsen of St. Marys, NSW, was second. Cory Eliason of Visalia, CA third. Giovanni Scelzi of Fresno, CA fourth. Rico Abreu of St. Helena, CA fifth. Bill Balog of Hartland, Wis., 10-time IRA champion running the season with the All Stars this year, overcame mechanical problems just prior to the start of the 30-lap feature resulting in his starting at the tail of the 24-car field. Balog ended up storming through the field to finish sixth. Third-year driver Brian Strane of Paris, WI won his first ever feature taking the victory in the first of twin 15-lap features for the Brewington Electric/Autometer Wisconsin Wingless Sprints. Veteran Dennis Spitz of Lewisburg, KY was second. Racine’s Derek Crane third.
In the second 15-lapper as the large field was split into two feature events, Chris Dodd of Trevor became the seventh different wingless sprint feature winner this season at Wilmot. Oconomowoc’s Ryan Zielski was second. Trevor’s Jordan Paulsen third. Ion Stear of Hebron, IL captured his second 15-lap IRA Lightning Sprints feature win of the year at Wilmot. Oak Creek’s Mark Heinert was second. Tim Brannam of Holiday Hills, IL third. Wilmot Raceway’s 1/3-mile clay oval resumes action on Saturday, June 12 featuring the return of the Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprint Cars to their original home track. The Wingless Sprints, IRA Lightning Sprints and Modifieds are on the program. Grandstands open at 5:00 p.m. with on track activity getting underway at 6:00 p.m. and racing slated for 7:00 p.m. Grandstand Admission for ages 12 & over is $25.00, ages 7-11 is $5.00 with children ages 6 & under admitted free.
