The FastLane Northland Super Stock Series visits Rice Lake again in 24.

This year marks the tenth year for the FastLane Northland Super Stock Series, which was originally set up to recognize the Super Stock Class and still does today. Series SpokesmanDennis McCauley and FastLane Motorsports & Powder coating owner Chris Bretting have been working since early December to bring the fans and drivers of the Super Stock Class a great early summer event for this year. This will also mark the second year the Series travels to Rice Lake Speedway.

Last year the Series opened up its schedule at Rice Lake Speedway with an impressive 52 Super Stock drivers in attendance tying the Series best attendance to date. With another 17 Midwest Modifieds in the house that brought the total competitors in attendance to 69 which was just about right for a beautiful Thursday Night of racing. The track schedules this early night of racing to coincide with the beginning of Aqua-Fest and kick off the weekends events for the City of Rice Lake.

Racing action was fierce for the Series six heat races with a spattering of local drivers doing very well in their respective heat races Tucker Quinn-second, Mike Siewert-third, Cody Kummer-first, Simon Wahlstrom-second, Terran Spacek-third, Leslie Leu-second, Randy Graham-third, and Jeff Eisner-third. All of those drivers advancing to the Feature race of the evening.

The Series also had a host of “hot shoe” drivers from all over Wisconsin and Minnesota who traveled to Rice Lake Speedway to compete including Nick Oreskovich, Shane Sabraski, Tim Johnson, Dexton Koch, Scott Lawrence, DJ Keeler, and Dylan Nelson to name a few. Nelson being the defending Series Champion in 2022, Sabraski who won in 2020, and Lawrence who won in 2016.

After heat and semi feature action the 26 drivers who qualified for the feature too the track for 30 grueling laps. When the final checkered flag waved for the night Sabraski was victorious taking home the first race of the Series and the winners share of the purse. Sabraski was followed by Oreskovich, Nelson, Wahlstrom, and Johnson rounding out the top 5.

The FastLane Northland Super Stock Series began in 2015 with modest success recruiting three tracks in the early years Gondik Law Speedway in Superior, ABC Raceway in Ashland, and Proctor Speedway. In those early years the Series had moderate success averaging 26 drivers per event for the first two years. 2017 the Series saw a significant growth averaging 38 drivers per event. 2018 saw the Series expand to a second weekend adding Granite City Motor Park in Sauk Rapids and Hibbing Raceway. The Series continued its great driver attendance that year averaging over 41 drivers.

The Series currently runs two back to back weekends with eight tracks participating last year and this year. Rice Lake Speedway, Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, ABC Raceway, Proctor Speedway, Grand Rapids Speedway, Gondik Law Speedway, Ogilvie Raceway, and Granite City Motor Park will again all have races for the 2024 campaign crowning a champion upon the conclusion of a race at each of the eight tracks. Unlike other events the Series tries to reschedule and event that is postponed by inclement weather.

Last year the Series had a total of 332 entrants of which 88different drivers competed over the eight nights with 29 drivers making all eight nights, and averaging over 41 drivers at each track. With the help of their great sponsors the series had a payout of over $40,000 last year not including over $2,000 in gift certificates handed out by Bretting for FastLane Motorsports and Powder coating along with numerous contingency prizes. Total value of payouts for those drivers last year exceeded $100,000 over the eight nights of racing and Series purse.

What to expect at Rice Lake Speedway Thursday June 6thfor the Super Stock Series? The Series again expects to see upwards of 50 of the best Super Stock Drivers from all over Minnesota and Wisconsin. There is also a good chance that some of our neighbors from north of the border (Canada) will be in attendance this year and possibly even drivers from South Dakota and Montana making the long haul. With this being the second year at Rice Lake the track will be running the Midwest Modified class and it is expected a few additional drivers in that support class will show up as well to make a great show for the Fans of the Rice Lake area.

The Series would like to recognize all eight of the participating tracks for their support to the Super Stock Class and a special Thank You for working with their competing tracks to allow their regular drivers to compete in the Series.Main Sponsors for the Series include FastLane Motorsports & Powder Coating, Halvor Lines, West Metro Buick GMC, Ignite Dispensaries, Fond du Luth Casino, Lulich Implement, and Affordable Chassis-Rapids Performance. Keep posted by checking out our Facebook page or My Race Pass and stay up to date with the Series each night. If you would like to come on board to help out the Series please contact Spokesman Dennis McCauley at 218-348-9919 and see you at an event near you!
