Sprints Rained Out at Rice Lake Speedway
By Ed Reichert
Rice Lake WI, June 22 – A week of heavy rains in the Rice Lake area have made the Rice Lake Speedway far to wet for racing activity to take place on Saturday night. With more rain on the way, a decision was made early to cancell the racing action for this Saturday night with the UMSS Sprints the scheduled feature attraction.
The speedway and officials of the UMSS are actively seeking another date to present both the Winged and Traditional Sprints and an announcement on that is expected in the next week or so.
The speedway has been having terrible luck with the weather of late. Saturday night’s rainout marked the third straight rainout for the track during the 2024 racing season with the last night of completed action being way back on June 1st.
The speedway will try again next Saturday night, June 29th with Hall of Fame night the special attraction. Set to be added to the Rice Lake Speedway Hall of Fame are Paul Gilberts, Tony Bahr, Dick Hessler and Tammy Sirek.
Along with the Hall of Fame presentation, a full program of WISSOTA sanctioned Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks and Pure Stocks will be on the schedule with the drivers anxious to get back on the track.
Race time on Saturday will be 6 pm with the pits opening at 3 pm and the spectator gates at 4 pm. Keep up on the latest developments and announcements on the speedway website at www.ricelakespeedway.net and the face book page.
