Rice Lake Speedway Special Events Previewed
By Ed Reichert
Rice Lake WI – While it will still be somewhere around three and a half months before the first wheels of the 2023 racing season turn at the Rice Lake Speedway, track owners Dave Adams and Mitch Hansen felt it important to announce some of their special event dates to allow competitors and fans to plan ahead and hopefully avoid too many conflicts with other race tracks in the area.
“ We want to let people know what some of the special events are that we are going to host during the 2023 racing season,” stated Adams. “But we also want everyone to understand that there will likely be some more additions before the first flag flies next April too. Many things still need to be fleshed out on the weekly schedule and there will be more announcements after the first of the year.”
The speedway plans to host three WISSOTA Late Model specials in 2023, just as they did this year. The first one planned will be the Trackside Collectibles forty which will be held on Saturday night, May 13th with long time speedway supporter Loren Miller again sponsoring the event through his business. Two weeks later, on Saturday night May 27th, the Swant-Graber 40 will be held on the Saturday night of the Memorial Day weekend.
Rounding out the Late Model schedule, the Rice Lake Speedway is back on the Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series schedule after a one year absence as they host the WCS on Saturday night, August 12th.
The Upper Midwest Sprint Series(UMSS) has been absent from the local track for several years but that will end on Saturday night, June 17thwhen both the Winged and Non Winged cars of the UMSS return to the speedway thanks to sponsorship from Todd’s Redi-Mix Concrete.
The annual Firecracker special, one of the longest standing events in track history and still one of the most popular, will return once again in 2023. This event will be held on its traditional date of July 3rd, a Monday night show in 2023.
The speedway is also pleased to announce that they will become one of the presenting tracks for the Fastlane Northland Super Stock Series. The speedway is excited to announce that they will host the opening event of the Fastlane Super Stock Series as series promoter Dennis McCauley has booked the series opener at Rice Lake on Thursday night, June 8th. Series sponsor Chris Bretting and Fastlane Motorsports and Powder Coating have long supported the only WISSOTA traveling series for the Super Stocks which has drawn large fields of cars and rave reviews.
Along with these special events, others to be announced and the always exciting regular series of Saturday night programs, 2023 looks to be a great upcoming season of dirt track racing at the Rice Lake Speedway.
The full speedway schedule will come out some time in February with other updates announced through the speedway facebook page such as the date for the track banquet and additional special events.
