Rice Lake Speedway Opener Unsure
By Ed Reichert
Rice Lake WI, April 17 – The Rice Lake Speedway is slated to open for the seventy first consecutive season on Saturday night, April 22nd. However, recent weather developments have made that opening date suspect. As of Monday, the opening race was still scheduled, but there remains a high probability that the opener may have to be postponed for a week due to snow on Sunday night that has not as yet melted plus a forecast for the week that includes a good chance of soaking rains and very cold temperatures.
Track owners Dave Adams and Mitch Hansen continue to hold out hope for the Saturday opener but they caution that a final decision will probably be made midweek.
To get the latest updates on the opener and for a final decision, everyone is advised to keep an eye on the speedway website at www.ricelakespeedway.net and to also monitor the speedway facebook page.
If the opener has to be postponed, opening night will be on Saturday night, April 29th with a full five division show. The practice night, which is scheduled for April 19th, will also be postponed by a week if the weather refuses to cooperate.
Any further questions should be directed to either Adams at 715-416-2861 or Hansen at715-416-1122.
