Rice Lake Speedway Opener Delayed; Miserable Weather The Cause

By Ed Reichert

Rice Lake WI, April 24 – Since 2017, the Rice Lake Speedway has not been able to get any April racing in at the track. And that statistic will hold as the 2021 opening night, scheduled for Saturday, April 24th, has fallen victim to the weather once again.

Rain, cold, wind and perhaps even a touch of snow during the day and the forecast of bone chilling temperatures overnight have all led to the track owners, Dave Adams and Mitch Hansen, pulling the plug on the show by Friday afternoon as while they, along with the racers, have been anxious to get the racing season started, some reasonable weather is also needed, not early March like conditions.

So everyone will meet once again next Saturday, May 1st and try it again with a five class, WISSOTA sanctioned program set to take off with gates opening at 4 pmand warm ups at 6:30 pm. Best Appearing race cars will be judged on May 1st with the awards presented the following week.

Follow the Rice Lake Speedway website or their face book page for updates as the week progresses.
