Rice Lake Speedway Championships Wet; September 3rd Finale Set
By Ed Reichert
Rice Lake WI, August 27 ā Early morning rains on Saturday dumped over a inch of rain on the Rice Lake Speedway. The track crew started working on the track early in the day but the combination of too much mud and very poor drying conditions made it clear that by 2 pm that they just weren’t going to be able to get the track in the shape it needed to be to provide good racing for the Season Championships and the event was cancelled. Rain later in the afternoon and evening would have made any attempts at racing a moot point anyway.
With no available dates for a make up event, the regular season is now complete and all attention is focused on the season finale which will be a special event on Saturday night, September 3rd. All five classes that run at the Rice Lake Speedway on a regular basis will be a part of the program with WISSOTA national points available for Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks and Pure Stocks. Extra money will be on the line for all positions and for all classes that race. Pit gates will open at 4 pm with the draw cutoff being at 6:30 pm with racing to follow.
