ATTENTION SPORTS/MOTORSPORTS FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ALREADY RECORD PAYOUTS CONTINUE TO SOAR FOR ERIC VAN ITEN MEMORIAL NIGHT AT ‘THE BURG’ SPEEDWAY IN LUXEMBURG JULY 18

(IMCA modifieds, stock cars will scrap for $5,300-to-win as $41,000 purse continues to climb daily)

(Luxemburg, WI) – With an already record purse posted in four classes The Eric Van Iten Memorial Night set for Sunday, July 18 at The ‘Burg Speedway in Luxemburg, Wisconsin is expected to draw not only a strong local contingent of drivers but many out-of-state heavy hitters as well.

The race at the third-mile, clay oval honors Van Iten. The longtime local racer passed away in January, 2021 after a battle with cancer. With donations pouring in from multiple individuals and businesses IMCA modifieds and stock cars will square off for a $5,300 top prize. IMCA northern sportmod and Unified Dirt Street Stock racers will battle for $1,100 to win in their respective feature races. The purse, which will likely exceed the already posted $41,000, is the largest one-day show payout in the track’s history.

2nd and 3rd place finishers in the modified and stock car divisions will go home with $2,575 and $1,250, respectively.

The big event has been made possible through the tireless efforts of one of Van Iten’s great friends and co-workers Troy “Snoot” DeGrave, himself a racer.

The evening will feature silent auctions, raffles, and a 50\50 drawing.  Benefits from those activities will be donated to one of Eric’s favorite charities, the Denmark chapter of Wings Over Wisconsin.

“We’re all grateful ‘Snoot’ reached out to us to host this event,” said track announcer Joe Orsini. “We’re all humbled to be hosting the largest event in the long and storied history of the speedway.”

Grandstand and pit admission prices will remain the same for this event. Pit passes for adults will be $25 with youths ages 5 through 13 just $15. Children 4 and under remain free in the pits.

Grandstand admission prices remain at $10 for adults 14 and older with ages 13 and under admitted free with a paid adult.

Anyone interested in contributing to the purse through sponsorship or donations can contact DeGrave at (920) 371 2679 or the track on how to get involved.  The track will also be accepting items for the silent auctions or as raffle prizes.

There has also been an account set up at Nicolet National Bank for anyone looking to donate to the drivers’ contingency fund.  Any branch will accept a deposit to the Eric Van Iten Memorial Race Fund.

The night will award IMCA state, regional, and national points but will not be a track points night.  Modified, Stock Car, and Sport Mod divisions will be IMCA sanctioned and follow all IMCA rules.  Street Stocks will be running under the Unified Dirt Street Stock rules package.

The format for the evening will be draw\redraw. 22 cars will qualify for the feature race in the Modifieds & Stock Cars with two additional drivers joining each field under a promoter’s choice for a pair of 24 car starting feature fields.

Pits open at 1:00 p.m. with the grandstand opening at 3 p.m. and racing at 5 p.m.
