Late Models Will Race at Rice Lake Speedway June 20th
By Ed Reichert
Rice Lake WI, June 15 – Dave Adams, co-owner of the Rice Lake Speedway, announced this morning that WISSOTA sanctioned Late Models will return to the track this coming Saturday night, June 20th to compete in a full racing program.
The recent successful program including the Late Models on June 6th was a telling factor in adding the Late Models for this Saturday night. “They put on a great show and the fans loved them,” stated Adams, “so we decided to give them another opportunity to race on Saturday with the tracks running them still quite limited,” further stated Adams.
The track schedule had this coming Saturday billed as a rain date for the Structural Buildings Challenge Series race originally slated for the track on May 30th but lost along with other early season races due to issues surrounding the Pandemic. The Challenge Series will be run but is currently on hiatus until the end of June when it will start in South Dakota and is scheduled to return to Rice Lake on August 1st. Saturday night’s race will be a regular distance event paying the normal purse for most area events but most of the drivers that run here two weeks ago are expected to return along with perhaps some others that weren’t ready for that night.
The best news for local race fans is that along with the Late Models, all the classes that normally run at the speedway will also be in action too with complete programs for them also on the card. That includes the Modifieds, who sat out the last program here when the Late Models raced two weeks ago. “We don’t want to slight our Modifieds as they are our top class for our weekly programs so they will also be running Saturday night,” according to Adams. “It should be a great show with all divisions racing.”
The six class program will begin with warm ups slated for 6:30 pm and racing to follow. Special event admission pricing will be in effect for the big six division program and fans should check the speedway face book page and other media sources during this coming week for more information.
