Jay Richardson wins at the Valley
Brad EricksonEagle Valley Speedway, August 7, 2020; The Eagle Valley Speedway held the River Country COOP, American Heroes Night. The Northern Vintage Racecars joined the WISSOTA sanctioned raced. Winners on the evening included Mike Anderson, Jay Richardson, Tommy, Danny, and George Richards, and Jason Helgeson. The WISSOTA Modifieds saw the heats won from the outside of the front rows as Matt Leer and Grant Southworth both carried the checkered flag. It was Mike Anderson coming from the outside of the second row at feature time, as he won yet another at the Eagle valley Speedway, ending a dry spell. Nick Koehler and Matt Leer both held service as they started and finished second and third. Michael Truscott raced from seventh to fourth as Tony Schill made a visit to the speedway and it paid off with a top five run. Tony Falkner and Bart Steffen grabbed the WISSOTA Super Stock heat victories as Tommy Richards motored from fourth on the gird to the win in the feature. No one seems to be passing more cars as of late than Terran Spacek and he did the same on this evening, moving from eighth on the grid to finish runner up. Austin Workman got a podium finish coming home in third as Bart Steffen and Jim Harris rounded out the top five. Long time Modified runner, Jay Richardson had spent some time in the Midwest Modified ranks as his son took over running the big mod. On this night, Richardson brought out his new 2020 SSR chassis and on the second night out of the box, he swept the evening. Shane Halopka and Bryan Pretzman were also heat winners. On his way to his first feature win of the season, Richardson was the only car in the top five to start inside the top five. Yet, he started exactly there, on the inside of the third row in fifth position. He had a fine, strong run to the checkered flag. Shane Halopka finished second after starting ninth as Dylan Goettl drove from seventh to third. George Dalbeck came from eighth to fourth and Derek Hass moved from sixth to fifth.Because winning is what the Richards brothers do, Danny Richards came from the outside of row two to park his WISSOTA Street Stock in victory lane at feature time. With a heat win earlier in the evening, Cody Kummer raced to finish second over third finishing Dalton Hazelton. It was the winner’s son, Cole Richards driving home in fourth and Michael Tuma finished fifth.George Richards joined his two brothers who were also feature winners on the evening as he ended a relative slump for himself with a sweep on the night. Travis Hazelton was the other heat winner. Rob Grabon has been fast in the last several weeks and he proved it again as he raced from the seventh starting position to finish behind Richards in second. Bob Thompson and Travis Hazelton finished third and fourth respectively as Patrick Smith made the long trip from 13th on the grid at the start to a top five finish. There were two EVS Hornet heats which Jason Helgeson and Levi Price won, and Helgeson followed it up with a feature win. Derek Krumrie who went to the work area during the event with a flat tire, restarted at the tail of the field and was able to scoot all the way back up to second at the finish. Roy Cooper finished third as Joslin Carothers raced from ninth to forth at the finish. Regan Gitzen started eleventh, and they too finished in the top five.
