Cool, Wet Conditions Nix ABC ‘Meet the Drivers’ Night; FastLane Series Next
by Nick Gima
Ashland, WI, June 10 – Unseasonably cool temperatures and off-and-on showers forced officials at the ABC Raceway to cancel Saturday’s race program.
Track officials will make every effort to reschedule the popular annual Kids’ Meet the Drivers night, which was to have been presented by Heartland Communications Group of Ashland and Iron River and was to have included WISSOTA Street Stocks.
On Saturday, June 17, the ABC Raceway will host race number 7 of the eight-track, eight-race FastLane Motorsports Northland Super Stock Series, presented by Halvor Lines. The Series has drawn over 50 entries in each of its first two events and 40 in its most recent running, and it has generated a different feature winner in each of those three events.
Also on Saturday the Raceway will hold its first-ever Educator Appreciation Night, with free admission and a free gift to all teachers and administrators who present their school ID at the grandstand ticket window. And, in honor of the FastLane Super Stock Series, the track will offer free admission to all younger fans wearing a super-hero costume to the track, with the first 25 receiving a free “super-sized” goodie bag.
The grandstand gates and pits will open at 5 pm on Saturday, with hot laps starting at 6:30. The first green flag of the night will be set to fly at 7 pm. The ABC Raceway is located 3-1/2 miles south of Ashland, then just one mile west of State Highway 13 on Butterworth Road.
