Banquet, Car Show and Practice Start Rice Lake Speedway Season
By Ed Reichert
Rice Lake WI – There may still be some snow on the ground, but the sure signs that Spring is getting close are everywhere to be seen, and for the racers and fans of the Rice Lake Speedway, those signs are also presenting themselves.
First off though, the celebration to wrap up the 2021 racing season will be held as the annual banquet put on by Adams-Hansen Inc. will be held at the Rice Lake Elks Club on Saturday night, March 26th. The top drivers from 2021 will be honored and announcements relative to the upcoming season and schedule will also be made. Tickets will be available at the door and the price to attend is $10. Check the speedway face book page for further information.
Another staple prior to the start of any racing season is the annual car show and this year that event has been booked once again at Rice Lake’s Cedar Mall. The cars will roll into the Mall on Thursday night, March 31st after 6 pm and will be available to be viewed during regular Mall hours from Friday, April 1st through Sunday, April 3rd. Cars that race in all classes at the track are expected to be on display as well as some other racing vehicles, both big and small. To enter your car for this event, contact Kevin Adams at Buzz Signs and Graphix in Cameron.
And finally, practice makes perfect. And so to that end, there will be two scheduled practice sessions at the speedway on Wednesday, April 20th and Thursday, April 21st from 6-9 pm both nights before the seventieth consecutive season of dirt track racing on Rice Lake’s North side begins on Saturday night, April 23rd, weather permitting. Five classes of cars, again under WISSOTA sanctioning, will again be in action with special events scheduled for both Late Models and Sprint Cars during the season. The complete 2022 season schedule is expected to be released shortly.
