August 28 Cancelled. Correct Wilmot Raceway points going into Sept. 4 Season Championships

(Wilmot, Wis., Saturday, August 28, 2021)–The 2021 Season Titles will be decided for Wilmot Raceway with Championship Night on Saturday, September 4. Due to continued extreme predicted heat and humidity along with heat and air quality advisories, Raceway officials reluctantly cancelled the scheduled August 28 program which included the BADGER Midgets Harry Turner Classic, modifieds, street stocks and WingLess Sprints, keeping the safety of racers, staff, fans, concession workers and gate workers in mind. Real feel temperatures indicated to exceed 100 degrees after gate openings was a deciding factor. Two divisions appear headed to the Labor Day weekend final regular season point night for the champion determination. In the AutoMeter/Brewington Electric Wisconsin WingLess Sprints, Ryan Zielski of Oconomowoc holds a 9-point lead, 1711-1702, over Ryan Marshall of Kansasville. Tim Cox of Park City, IL (1684) has a possible shot at a second Wilmot title, trailing the leader by 27 points. Neither Zielski or Marshall has won a Wilmot title. Scott Ellis of Lake Villa, IL (1012 points)seeking his first ever Bandit 4-Cylinder Stock Car crown, has a pair of drivers within striking distance of him. Salem’s Ryan Johnson is second, 32 points back, with David McKellips of Mt. Pleasant third, 35 points behind the leader. The IRA Lightning Sprints have Nick Petska of Spring Grove, IL with a somewhat comfortable 86 point lead, 1242-1156, over second place Pleasant Prarie’s Mike Neau. Rob Maule of Hebron, IL has virtually wrapped up his fourth street stock championship. Maule holds a 115 point lead over second place Cody Erickson of Algonquin, IL, 1009-894. The runner-up spot appears headed to the final night with Erickson having a 11-point advantage over third place and 2020 champion Courtney Atkinson of Muskego.
Caledonia’s Chris Carlson holds a large 160 point advantage as he has virtually wrapped up a fifth Wilmot championship. Second place appears headed for the finale with the family feud of Genoa City brothers. Nick Simons is second, the younger of the two, holding a 29 point lead over Mike Simons. Hanna City’s Jake Blackhurst secured his first ever Wilmot Raceway season series championship by virtue of his victory in the August 21 Roger Iles Tribute, the final scheduled 2021 appearance of the 410 Winged Outlaw Sprints. Grandstand admission for September 4 is $20.00 for adults ages 12 and over; $5.00 ages 7-11; 6 & under admitted free. Pit passes are $30.00. Grandstands open at 5 p.m. with on track activity about 5:45 and racing slated to get underway about 6:30.

Currently the final planned Wilmot Raceway event of the 2021 schedule is the Jim “Wildman” Watson Classic for the Dirt King Late Models on Saturday, September 11. Modifieds, Street Stocks, Bandit 4-Cylinder Stock Cars and Wingless Sprints are on the program. The annual bike giveaway, which appears headed to a new record of over 150 to be given away through a drawing of youngsters ages 16 and under, will highlight the on track action.
