10/3/20 Wilmot Raceway Results
(Wilmot, Wis., Saturday, October 3, 2020)–One feature winner, one series champion and 143 happy youngsters were the main winners on the 2020 season closing night Saturday, October 3 at Wilmot Raceway. The Dirt King Late Model Tour Series finale ended up called at the half-way point of the 30-lap feature with steady heavy showers hitting the 1/3-mile clay oval. Waukesha’s Taylor Scheffler became the third different Jim Wildman Watson Classic winner at Wilmot. Cleveland’s Justin Schmidt was runner-up. Third place finisher Justin Ritchie of New London captured the overall series 2020 season championship. Fourth place in the shortened main went to Milwaukee’s Turk Letizia. Rounding out the top five was Troy Springborn of Shawano. Preliminary heat winners for the late models were Chris Engels of Green Bay, Taylor Scheffler and Joel Bennett of Hortonville. Despite a steady mist which occasionally worked its way into a drizzle and then heavier showers, heat races in all of the divisions were completed. As a result the show was considered complete and drivers were paid accordingly. Modified heat wins were to Terry Kiedrowski of Union Grove, Joel Crowbridge of union Grove and Chris Carlson of Union Grove. Wingless Sprint Car heat wins were collected by Ryan Marshall of Kansasville, Jimmy Sivia of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Charles Spoonmore of Somonauk, IL and Brian Strane of Paris. Bandit heat wins went to John Cole of McHenry, IL and Dale Ehleiter of Union Grove. Street Stock heat victories were picked up by Adam Crapser of Brookfield and Jesse Krahn of Beaver Dam. Various sponsors donated a record 143 bikes which were given away to youngsters ages 16 and under in attendance at the races. The program concluded the 2020 Wilmot Raceway season. Congratulations go to track champions Bill Balog of Hartford in the 410 Winged Outlaw Sprints, Chris Klemko of Bristol in the AutoMeter/Brewington Electric Wisconsin WingLess Sprints, Mike Simons of Genoa City in the Modifieds, Courtney Atkinson of Muskego in the Street Stocks, John Cole of McHenry, IL in the 4-Cyliner Bandit Stock Cars and Ion Stear of Hebron, IL in the IRA Lightning Sprints. Wilmot Raceway, located on the Kenosha County Fairgrounds, is slated to open the 2021 season some time in the spring.
