Seating, Camping, Pit Spots Still Available for ABC Raceway’s 45th Red Clay Classic
by Nick Gima
Ashland, WI, July 26 — The ABC Raceway has announced that advance ticket sales, reserved seating, overnight camping sites and pit spots are currently available for the 45th Red Clay Classic, to be held Friday and Saturday, October 2-3.
Presented by FastLane Motorsports & Custom Powdercoating of Ashland, Tim’s Automotive Machine of Bloomer, and Red’s Auto of Ironwood, MI, the Red Clay Classic is one of the most popular and prestigious short-track stock car racing events in the Upper Midwest, with over 200 WISSOTA Late Models, Modifieds, Super Stocks and Midwest Modifieds from throughout the Midwest and Canada expected to compete on the award-winning three-eighths-mile red-clay oval for a share of a purse set to be in excess of $100,000.
Fans who had purchased reserved seats and camping sites for last year’s Classic will have until July 31 to contact the Raceway’s ticket department to retain those same seats and sites for this year’s show. Racers who had reserved pits spots for the 2019 event must do likewise if they wish to park in the same spot for the 2020 race. As of August 1, all reserved seats, sites and pit spots not claimed will be made available to the general public and other racers.
Fans who hold reserved seats and drivers with reserved pit parking during the regular season still need to contact the Raceway in order to retain them for the Classic. The VIP decks can only be used by their current renters for the Red Clay Classic.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic and its resulting travel restrictions, fans and racers from Canada who may not be able to attend this year’s Classic but had reserved seats, camping sites and pit spots from 2019 should call the Raceway to advise of this. The track’s Board of Directors has confirmed that, upon confirmation that Canadian fans and racers with prior reservations will not be able to attend this year, the Raceway will offer those seats, sites and spots to others for 2020 but will again hold them for their 2019 owners first for the 2021 Red Clay Classic.
“We understand the complications of travel during this time and the difficulty for many Red Clay Classic fans and racers to attend this year’s show,” Raceway Board president Eric Erickson recently stated. “We don’t feel it’s fair that our loyal fans and racers from north of the border should lose the rights to their reservations because of the pandemic.
“All we ask is that they call us to let us know that they can’t make it this year. We’ll certainly miss them. But basically, if any racer or fan from Canada had a seat, site or spot in 2019 and can’t make it for 2020, it’s still yours first for 2021.”
To purchase advance tickets with reserved seating, or to reserve a campsite on Raceway grounds, please call (715) 682-2672 Monday through Friday (evenings only) or send an e-mail to tickets@abcraceway.com. A very limited number of bring-your-own lawnchair spots along the top walkway of the main grandstand can also be reserved in advance only, for the price of an adult two-day pass plus the additional reserved-seat charge.
The Raceway Board will soon advise if the owner of the property to the east and directly adjacent to the track’s pit area will be offering first-come, first-served overnight parking during the RCC weekend.
Pit parking can be reserved by calling (715) 746-2390 (evenings) or by e-mailing tickets@abcraceway.com.
