Late Model Racers and Fans Get Two More Rice Lake Speedway Dates
By Ed Reichert
Rice Lake WI – As the racing season moves through July and into August, the Rice Lake Speedway will be offering Late Model fans and drivers two more opportunities at their facility.
Following a successful Sunday night, May 29th race that saw Darrell Nelson top Pat Doar and Mike Prochnow, the WISSOTA Late Model drivers will return again to the third mile oval on Saturday night, July 30th.
Selected as a night when there will be no local conflicts for the Late Model racers, this event will again offer two thousand dollars to the winner of the forty lap event and three hundred dollars just to start the main event. A full field of the area’s best Late Model drivers are expected to be on hand for this program that will also feature a full show of WISSOTA sanctioned Pure Stocks, Midwest Modifieds and Modifieds. The Street Stocks, in preparation for the Little Dream and the Super Stocks, with other big events on that night, will both get the night off.
And then the Late Models will make their final appearance at the speedway on Saturday night, August 13th. Again, this is a night without local conflicts and follows by one day the Mahder 55 to be held at the Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, providing both local and traveling race teams an opportunity to participate in two special events during one big weekend. This race will also pay two thousand dollars to win and three hundred dollars to start. On this night, all five classes that appear weekly at the speedway will be running as this is the last track point show for 2022.
