OUTAGAMIE SPEEDWAY / EWSC CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS

(Seymour, WI) 9/3/17 Outagamie Speedway powered by EWSC Race Report- A solid field of 114 `cars checked in to do battle for the final points night of the 2017 season. There were 28 IMCA Sport Mods, 27 IMCA Stock Cars, 24 IMCA Modifieds, 19 Street Stocks and 16 IMCA Sport Compacts.
In the highly contested IMCA Stock Car points battle, Chaz Van Ooyen came into the night with a 1 point lead over Jeremy Christians. That all changed on lap 5 of the feature as a huge crash collected Van Ooyen and Christians. Van Ooyen had front suspension damage but was able to continue while Christians bid for the title was over with a smashed radiator. 
Bob Czarapata paced the field until Travis Van Straten worked by on lap 8. Kyle Frederick made his presence felt, working into the runner up spot. Frederick set his sights on Van Straten, pulling along side for the lead with 2 laps remaining. Frederick took the top spot as the white flag flew and held off Van Straten for the win. Czarapata placed third, Phil Hiles was fourth and Justin Jacobson completed the top five. Chaz Van Ooyen took the championship.
In IMCA Modified action Brian Mullen entered the night with a 51 point lead, giving him another track title. Paul Parker passed Eric Scribner on lap 3 and never looked back, scoring a clean sweep with his 3rd feature win of the season. Russ Reinwald took a solid second, Jason Czarapata placed third, fourth went to Brian Mullen and 2017 Wisconsin State Champ TJ Smith was fifth. 
Kyle Raddant worked around Dennis Miesler to take the lead of the IMCA Sport Mod feature on lap 5. Raddant led the remainder of the event to score the win. With a second place finish Travis Hansen earned the 2017 track title. Tailar Ness placed third, John Rothmund took fourth and Kevin Bethke rounded out the top five. 
A red flag came out midway through the Street Stock feature as leader Cory Wegner made contact with Derek Lecker Jr, Lecker’s machine spun and was hit by Josh Novak. Both drivers were ok but they’re cars were heavily damaged. Wegner suffered a flat tire. This handed the lead over to Mike Carter. Carter led the rest of the way. Gary Kasperek finished second, Harley Diedrick was third, Lexii Ashcraft placed fourth. Paul Ambrosius raced to a fifth placed finish, securing his first ever track title.
Brian Johnson took home his first win of the season in the IMCA Sport Compacts. Mitch Mier placed second, taking the championship. Mike Mier was third, Lindsey Mullen took fourth and Mike Mier placed fifth.
