6 Champions Crowned on Nibblet’s Apple Shed Night

Unity, WI. August 25—  Michael Truscott, Randy Spacek, Kyle Genett, Chris Oertel, Jason Havel and Kasey Gross are the 2017 Spring Lake Speedway season champions. Friday night marked the last regular season points race of year at SLS.
Truscott won the B-Mod feature race and regular season series championship at SLS Friday night. Truscott started just outside of the pole position and dominated the race as the field struggled to keep pace with the fast Truscott. The season champ finishes the year with five feature victories at Spring Lake.
The top five finishers for the B-Mod feature, starting with first, were: Truscott, Kent Baxter, Andy Karl, Chad Selk and Mike Widmann.
Spacek claimed another Super Stock season championship Friday and he held on for a close feature win over Dan Nissalke. Nissalke was involved in multiple cautions but persevered through the adversity to make a late run for the lead. Spacek ends the regular season with five feature victories at SLS.
The top five finishers for the Super Stock feature, starting with first, were: Spacek, Nissalke, Kyle Helling, Scott Geiger and Joel Peterson.
Kyle Genett took the feature victory and season championship for the Street Stock series on Friday. Genett, starting mid-pack, made his way through the field. After a battle for the lead with his brother Karl Genett, Kyle Genett seized the lead as the race stayed green to the finish. Kyle Genett finishes the year with three feature victories at Spring Lake Speedway.
The top five finishers for the Street Stock feature, starting with first, were: Kyle Genett, Karl Genett, Jared Lindner, Nate Hauge and Ralph Stark.
Matt Leer won a caution filled A-Mod feature race on Friday, but Chris Oertel collected the series season championship. Oertel faded to the rear of the field during the feature, but acquired enough points to win the series title. Oertel finished the year with four feature victories at the track.
Leer dominated the feature race as he picked up his third feature victory of the season at Spring Lake Speedway.
The top five finishers for the A-Mod feature, starting with first, were: Leer, Paul Niznik, Steve Lavasseur, Zach Drews and Oertel.
Havel earned the feature win and the season championship for the Pure Stock series on Friday night at Spring Lake. The veteran won five straight feature races at SLS to close the year on a strong note. Havel, his family and race announcer Ben Brost celebrated in victory circle after the victory with some heartfelt words and memories as Havel continues his ongoing battle with a severe health issue.
The top five finishers for the Pure Stock feature, starting with first, were: Havel, Tucker Quinn, Leslie Leu, Jim Thur and Randy Luedtke.
Jason Junker grabbed his first feature victory of the season at SLS on Friday night, but Casey Gross picked up the season championship crown. Gross finishes the year with seven feature victories at Spring Lake. Junker took an early lead in the feature Friday and held the lead as Gross made his way from the back of the pack to the second position.
The top five finishers for the Hornet feature, starting with first, were: Junker, Gross, Mark Schoone, Kraig James and Ryan Miller.
The junkyard warriors rounded out the racing program and the fans were treated to some great maneuvering and hard hits throughout the competition. The top three finishers for the race were Jay Yanke, Matt Boneski and Jordan Yanke.
Racing returns to Spring Lake Speedway on October 13th and 14th for the third annual Autumn Clash. The two-night event begins at 7:00 p.m. on both nights and will include all regular racing series.
