FEATURE WINNERS & CHAMPIONS CROWNED AT LUXEMBURG SPEEDWAY

(Luxemburg, WI) 8/25/17 Race Report- Kyle Frederick returned to victory lane Friday night in the IMCA Stock Cars. A total of 119 cars checked in to do battle at the Burg. There were 33 Stock Cars, 24 Sport Mods, 22 Street Stocks, 21 Modifieds and 19 Sport Compacts

 

Champions Notes: In the IMCA Modifieds Algoma’s Todd “Felix” Dart earned his first ever Luxemburg Speedway title. Pulaski’s Devin Snellenberger put his name in the record books as he captured his first track championship in the IMCA Stock Cars. The IMCA Sport Mods saw a repeat champ as “The Kid” Randy LeMieux Jr. of Sturgeon Bay took home top honors. In his first full season at Luxemburg Paul Diefenthaler of Manitowoc was crowned king in the Street Stocks. Green Bay’s Nick Everard came out on top in the IMCA Sport Compacts.

 

Eric “Chummy” Arneson paced the opening laps of the IMCA Stock Car feature until last week’s winner Shawn Havel raced by on lap 12. Arneson battled back, regaining the lead a lap later. This battle allowed Kyle Frederick to close in. The trio raced 3 wide for multiple laps with Frederick gaining edge with a handful of laps remaining. Frederick pulled away from the field, securing the win, Havel placed second, Arneson took third, fourth went to Troy Muench and Jeremy Anschutz completed the top five.

 

Kelsy “Hollywood” Hayes passed Jarred VanLaanen on lap 3 for the lead of the IMCA Sport Mod main. Hayes worked to a sizable advantage until a caution slowed the field on lap 14. Todd Wiese put the pressure on as the race restarted. Wiese and Hayes made contact, sending Wiese to the pits with a flat tire. As Hayes worked low Tailar Ness ran the highside to the lead on lap 17. With the white flag out, Hayes pulled a slider on Ness to retake the lead and held on for the win. Hayes also scored a clean sweep with her first win of the season. Ness had to settle for second, Troy DeGrave was third, Lucas Lambries took fourth after starting 18th and Hunter Parsons rounded out the top five.

 

Dave Zeitler led every lap of the caution free IMCA Modified feature, scoring the victory with a clean sweep. Josh Lambert had a solid run with a second, James Tebon placed third, Todd Dart secured the track title with a fourth place finish and Josh Long took fifth.

 

Dan Van Pay raced to the lead on lap 6 and never looked back, picking up the win in the Street Stocks. John Hill held of for second, Paul Diefenthaler rallied late to bring him a third place and the title, Andy Fuhrmann was fourth and Dave DeGrave took fifth.

 

Shaun Bangart passed Mitch Mier with 2 laps remaining to win the IMCA Sport Compact feature. Mier was a close second, Kyle Jorgenson took third, DJ Jorgenson placed fourth and TJ Everard rounded out the top five.
