MULLEN, HILES AND SCHMIDT SCORE WINS AT OUTAGAMIE SPEEDWAY

By Edward Anschutz
(Seymour, WI) 8/20/17 Outagamie Speedway Powered by EWSC official race report- A total of 100 cars did battle Sunday night. There were 25 IMCA Stock Cars, 21 IMCA Modifieds, 21 IMCA Sport Mods, 17 Street Stocks and 16 IMCA Sport Compacts.
In IMCA Modified action it was Jason Czarapata pacing the field early as point leader Brian Mullen and Shawn Kilgore worked through the field. A caution with 2 laps remaining set up a mad dash to the checkers with Mullen lined up outside row two. Czarapata got the jump as the green flew, working the high groove as Mullen dove low. Coming to the white flag Mullen grabbed the lead, holding it all the way to the checkers. Czarapata had to settle for second at the pay window. Jerry Wilinski took a solid third, JJ Andersen was fourth and Kilgore placed fifth in his first visit of the season.
Eric Arneson lead the first 3 laps of the IMCA Stock Car feature until his car broke under caution. Next up it was Trent Nolan pacing the field with Brian Ambrosius and Phil Hiles in pursuit. Ambrosius grabbed the lead on lap 13 but his reign up front only lasted a lap as Phil Hiles raced by on lap 14. Hiles led the remainder of the event for his first win of the season. Justin Jacobson rallied late to place second, Ambrosius was third, with a fourth placed Chaz Van Ooyen leads the standings by 1 point over Jeremy Christians who took fifth.
After an early race battle Jayden Schmidt took the lead away from Dennis Miesler on lap 5. Several cautions kept the field close but Schmidt was up for the task. The final caution set up a green white checker. Lucas Lambries used this to his advantage, pulling a slide job on Schmidt for the top spot. Schmidt immediately pulled a cross over, taking the lead back coming to the white. Schmidt held off Lambies to score his ever win at his home track. Lambries was a close second, Miesler took third, fourth went to Chris Budzban and Jason Vandenberg took fifth.
Lexii Ashcraft passed Andy Fuhrmann for the lead on lap 10 of the Street Stock feature. Ashcraft never looked back en route to her first feature win of the season. Fuhrmann followed up a solid weekend with a second place. After a trip down pit lane point leader Paul Ambrosius rallied to third, Clint Evans was fourth and Harley Diedrick completed the top five.
Kyle Jorgenson was victorious in the IMCA Sport Compact feature. Point leader Mitch Mier placed second, third went to Mike Mier, Lindsey Mullen was fourth and TJ Everard placed fifth.
