Doxtator Scores Win Number One

Shawano,WI,8/12/17—After nearly twenty years of trying, Asa Doxtator broke through with his first career feature win in the ultra-competitive IMCA Stock Car Class. IMCA Sport Mod racer Kyle Raddant scored his first win of the year. While, Ron Berna (Late Model), Konnor Wilinski (IMCA Modified), and rookie Max Oreskovich (Mighty Four) each picked up wins for the second week in a row. It was the fourth win of the year for both Berna and Wilinski, and the third win of the year for Oreskovich.

Doug Blashe took the lead on the opening lap of the Late Model feature as Troy Springborn followed into second. As Blashe led, Brett Swedberg, Ron Berna, and Nick Anvelink began working their way through the field into the top five. Springborn caught Blashe and made an inside pass for the lead on lap twelve. Berna also advanced up to second on the track. As Springborn led, Anvelink raced past Berna for second. On lap seventeen Berna charged past Anvelink and pulled to the inside of Springborn. Berna snagged the lead with two laps to go and went on to score the victory. Anvelink took second, Swedberg third, Springborn fourth, while Joe Reuter finished fifth. 
In IMCA Modified action, Matt Oreskovich took the lead on lap one. As Oreskovich, led Konnor Wilinski began marching forward from his eighth-place starting position. On lap eight, Wilinski took the top spot from Oreskovich. Wilinski led the rest of the way for the win. Behind him though Oreskovich and Lance Arneson raced side by side for the final ten laps in the battle for second. In the end it was Oreskovich finishing second as Arneson, Jamie Schmidt, and Jerry Wilinski rounded out the top five.
Asa Doxtator started the IMCA Stock Car feature outside row one and grabbed the lead on the opening lap. Through the first seven green flag laps of the race Doxtator had established a sizeable lead before a caution came out and erased his advantage. Upon returning to the green flag, 12th place starter Kyle Frederick made a charge into second place on the track. Frederick then made a challenge for the lead as he got a fender to the inside of Doxtator on lap ten. Doxtator continued to lead though. Frederick pulled even with Doxtator exiting turn four on lap thirteen and held the lead at the start finish line. Doxtator charged right back to the lead entering turn number one and resumed the lead by a car length on lap fourteen. Another caution after lap fourteen again bunched the field up. On the restart Frederick again got underneath Doxtator to steal the lead on lap fifteen. Doxtator again though battled past Frederick for the lead as Justin Jacobsen snuck past Frederick to move to second. With two laps to go it was now Jacobsen with a look under Doxtator. The pair ran side by side for the lead with Frederick right on their back bumpers. Exiting turn four it was a three-horse race to the finish. Doxtator would not be denied though as he scored his first career feature win. Jacobsen took second followed by Frederick, Vern Stedjee, and Mike Schmidt.
The IMCA Sport Mod feature saw Bryce Clements lead lap the opening two laps of the race before Wyatt Block nosed ahead on lap three. As Block led, Kyle Raddant and Jordan Barkholtz began to apply pressure. Block and Raddant ran the high side of the speedway as Barkholtz ran the low line and steadily improved his position on the track. Barkholtz took the lead from Block on the eighth go around. With Barkholtz leading, Kyle Raddant moved to second. Raddant continued in the high groove and began to track down Barkholtz. On lap sixteen Raddant pulled even with Barkholtz and led by a bumper. The pair worked through lapped traffic battling door to door for the lead for the duration of the race. In the end, it was Raddant by a slim margin over Barkholtz. Jason Ebert, Block, and Jordan Bartz completed the top five.    
Travis Welch led the opening lap of the Mighty Four feature before Max Oreskovich took the lead away. Oreskovich would led the remainder of the race fending off the charges of Scott Blanke for his second consecutive feature win. Calvin Stueck, Mike Brehmer, and Tanner Westphal finished third through fifth.
