AARON BUTTERBRODT SITS ATOP THE HILL IN THE SPORT MODS
(Sturgeon Bay, WI) 7/21/17 Hill Raceway Race Report-
Aaron Butterbrodt held off all challengers, besting a field of 24 cars to earn his first career feature win in the Sport Mods. A total of 73 checked in to do battle. Car counts: 24 Sport Mods, 20 Stock Cars, 18 Street Stocks and 11 Baby Bombers. Joining Butterbrodt
in victory lane was Shawn Havel-Stock Cars, Mike Carter-Street Stocks and Nick Everard-Baby Bombers.

Aaron Butterbrodt jumped from the outside front row to
big a advantage early in the Sport Mod main but a caution on lap 11 erased that. Troy DeGrave was the first to challenge Butterbrodt for the lead. Butterbrodt was up for the task, using the highside to slowly pull away but another caution with 7 laps remaining
set up a dash to the checkers. This time is was multi-time champ Bernie Reinhardt applying heavy pressure down low on the restart. Butterbrodt withstood the challenge, gaining a car length advantage on final lap to secure his first career feature win. Second
went to Reinhardt, last week’s winner Craig Dorner was third, point leader Tom Stark placed fourth and fifth went to Cody Rass.
In Street Stock action Rusty Campo paced the opening 2
laps until Scott Boulanger took over. Boulanger was quickly pressured by point leader Dave DeGrave. On lap 8 Boulanger and DeGrave made contact, sending DeGrave to pit lane with a flat tire. A caution on lap 11 bunched the field allowing Mike Carter a shot
at the win. Boulanger set the pace as Carter gave chase. With 3 laps remaining Carter made his move, sliding under Boulanger and taking the lead. Carter pulled away to score his first ever Hill feature. Boulanger had to settle for second, Andy Fuhrmann is
his first visit of the season took third, Ford Malvitz started 18th and raced to an impressive fourth place, John Hill completed the top five.
Shawn Havel passed John Anschutz on lap 4 of the Stock
Car main and never looked back scoring the win with a clean sweep on the night. With a second place finish Dave Bouche reclaims sole possession of the point lead. Third place went to Tom Brumlic, last week’s winner Scott Reinhardt was third and John Anschutz
rounded out the top five.
Nick Everard made it 2 feature wins in a row in the Baby
Bombers. Branden Goeser closed in late in the going but had to settle for second, Tony Everard placed third, point leader DJ Jorgenson was fourth and Mike Zitzer took fifth.
