Shaw Trucking WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series Comes to Rice Lake Speedway
Rice Lake WI – The high powered Late Models of the WISSOTA Challenge Series will be returning to the Rice Lake Speedway on Saturdaynight, July 29th.
Following a spectacularly successful return of the Late Models to the Rice Lake Speedway in 2016, the series, this year sponsored by Shaw Trucking located in Ham Lake Minnesota, will be making another visit to the track.
The race will be the eleventh race on the series schedule for 2017 which has already visited tracks in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa. The Rice Lake event will be the third of that weekend, dove tailing with other series events at the I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls Minnesota on Thursday night and the Twin Ports Twin 25’s to be contested the previous night, on Friday July 28th at the AMSOIL Speedway in Superior Wisconsin. The scheduling of the three events together makes it more advantageous for drivers traveling long distances to compete and an all-star field of drivers is expected for all three events.
At press time, the current point leader in the series is John Kaanta of Elk Mound who is trailed by Lance Matthees from Winona Minnesota, Steve Laursen from Cumberland, Jeff Wildung from Nassau Minnesota and Jake Redetzke from Eau Claire. All are drivers that Rice Lake Speedway fans are familiar with and they are expected to be joined by another twenty five or so drivers from all over the WISSOTA region. The defending champion of this race from 2016 is A.J. Diemel from Elk Mound and he is making every attempt possible to be a part of the field this year also.
Along with the Late Models, a full program will also be held for the five divisions that regularly race at the track so it should be one of the best nights of the year for the race fans in terms of getting the most for their racing dollar.
Warm ups are slated for 6:30 pm with racing to follow and the Late Model portion of the program will be administered under the auspices of Challenge Series Director Craig Sullivan.
