Bodendorfer, Brumlic and Haines get first features at the Burg
(Luxemburg, WI) 6/30/17 Race Report- 106 cars packed the pit area for Armed Forces night at Luxemburg Speedway. Jeff Bodendorfer made the 2.5 hour trip from Waterford a successful one with his first career feature win in the IMCA Modified. Other feature winners were Tom Brumlic-IMCA Stock Car, Wayne Haines-IMCA
Sport Mod, Dave DeGrave-Street Stock and Mark Zitzer-IMCA Sport Compact.
Brandon Long paced the field early on a very fast track
for the IMCA Modified headliner. Long road the treacherous cushion. On lap 8 that fine line was crossed as Long slide over the cushion and up the track, allowing Jeff Bodendorfer to slide by for the top the spot. Kyle Kudick closed in late but Bodendorfer
held steadfast on the high side and collected the big win. The contest went green to checker. Kudick had to settle for second at the pay window. Long held on for third, Benji LaCrosse started 14th and finished fourth. Lance Arneson completed the top five.
Dan Michonski wrestled the lead away from Jeremy Anschutz
in the opening circuits of the IMCA Stock car feature. Michonski run as leader was short lived as Tom Brumlic came blasting by on lap 4. Michonski went back to work, pulling to the inside of Brumlic several times. Michonski kept the pressure on the remainder
of the event but it was Brumlic scoring the victory. Although Brumlic has won many races at Luxemburg, this was his first in the IMCA Stock Cars. Michonski earned his best ever finish at Luxemburg with second, Billy LeMieux was third, Dave Bouche took fourth
and Larry Karcz rallied late to pace fifth.
Jarred Vanlaanen looked strong early in the IMCA Sport
Mod feature but a series of early cautions kept the field close. Vanlaanen was challenged by Gabe Zellner and the race for the lead was on. Zellner was able to capitalize on a bobble by Vanlaanen and take the top spot. Wayne Haines also got by Vanlaanen to
take the runner up position. Zellner checked out on the field, looking poised to earn his first win but a broken drivetrain sent him pit side with 3 laps remaining. This handed the lead over to Haines who went on to score his first ever feature win. Jacob
Zellner was second, Kyle Raddant placed third after starting 13th. VanLaanen brought home fourth and Marcus Moede rounded out the top five.
Dave DeGrave ended Paul Diefenthaler’s stranglehold in
the Street Stock division. DeGrave took the lead on lap 10 from Dave Gauger and never looked back, cruising to his first win of the season. Diefenthaler padded his point lead with a second place finish, Gauger was third, Dan Van Pay took fourth. In his first
run of the season Bill Hayes placed fifth.
Mark Zitzer passed DJ Jorgenson for the win of the IMCA
Sport Compact feature. Mike Mier made a late race pass to place second, Jorgenson held on for third, Tony Fletcher was fourth and fifth went to Mitch Mier.
