LACROSSE, CHRISTIANS, BETHKE AND AMBROSIUS VICTORIOUS AT OUTAGAMIE

(Seymour, WI) 6/11/17 Race Report- Benji LaCrosse worked his magic on the top side to pass Brian Mullen with 5 laps remaining to score the win in the IMCA Modifieds at Outagamie Speedway. Other feature winners were IMCA Stock Car-Jeremy Christians, IMCA Sport Mod-Kevin Bethke, Street Stock-Paul Ambrosius and Sport Compact-Brian Johnson.

Jay Matthias paced the opening 9 laps of the IMCA Modified main until Brian Mullen slid by for the top spot on lap 10. Mullen continued to work the low groove as Benji LaCrosse sliced his way through the field. LaCrosse set his machine on the top groove, closing in on Mullen. With 5 laps remaining LaCrosse made the pass for the lead. Mullen kept the pressure on the rest of the way but it was LaCrosse claiming top dollar at the pay window. Mullen was second, Matthias came home third, Brad Lautenbach raced to fourth and Rookie Chase Parker completed the top five.

Chris Loewengan and Larry Karcz swapped the lead for the first 3 laps of the IMCA Stock Car feature. Travis Van Straten’s night went up in smoke with engines woes, which drew a caution. On the restart Jeremy Christians jumped to the top of the track, blasting by Karcz for the lead. Christians cruised to the win. Kyle Frederick had another strong run to place second, Chaz Van Ooyen showed his consistency with a third, point leader Justin Jacobsen was fourth, while Jeremy Wiitala took fifth.

Brianna Ambroziak looked like the driver to beat early in the IMCA Sport Mod headliner. She paced the field for the first 13 laps but on lap 14 Kevin Bethke worked the low groove to the lead. Bethke never looked back and scored a convincing win. Travis Hanson rallied late to place second, Ambroziak capped off a strong run with third, Chris Budzban was fourth and Hunter Parsons rounded out the top five.

Matt Warner passed George Tabalske on lap 4 of the Street Stock feature to take the lead. After trouble in his heat race, Paul Ambrosius blasted through the field to catch Warner. As the white flag flew Ambrosius made his move, taking the lead away from Warner. Ambrosius went on to score his first feature win of the season. Warner settled for second, Mike Carter, Ryan Manthei and Dylan Stedjee completed the top five.

Brian Johnson led all 20 laps of the Sport Compact A-Main enroute to his first feature win of the season. Johnson also scored a clean sweep on the night. Second went to Shawn Bangart, point leader Mitchel Mier was third, followed by Nick Everard and Mike Mier.
