Advance RV Mod Series to Make First-Ever Stop at ABC

Ashland, WI, June 10 — Modified racers from throughout WISSOTA are expected to be at the ABC Raceway on Saturday night, as the Bad River Lodge, Casino & Convention Center will present the first-ever visit to the northern Wisconsin oval by the Advantage RV Modified Series.

The touring series for WISSOTA’s “big Mods” is expected to draw upwards of 30 or more entries for the show at Ashland, which will be the third of four races run during the Series’ second leg, known as the “Race to the Hill Swing.” The Series’ schedule is broken into four segments, based on the various weekends that races are run and the proximity of the participating tracks in each segment.

Shane Sabraski of Rice, MN, captured the Series’ opening-night win in Sauk Rapids, MN, on Friday, June 2, and former Red Clay Classic champ Jody Bellefeuille of Duluth, MN, grabbed the win in Oglivie, MN, the following night to compete the first segment.

On Thursday, June 8, the win in Grand Rapids, MN, went to Jeremy Nelson of Alexandria, MN, helping him move to the top of the tour’s points standings as of the conclusion of that program.

As of press time the results were not yet in from Friday night’s show in Superior. The “Race to the Hill” leg concludes on Sunday, June 11, with the prestigious “King on the Hill” special at Proctor, MN.

The Series is in its seventh season, and this year, in addition to the purses offered at the participating tracks for each program, a $10,000 points fund will be paid out to the top 20 qualifying drivers in the final Series standings. A significant number of corporate sponsors are also offering a healthy cache of contingency prizes.

For Saturday night’s show at ABC, a $1,500 check will be awarded to the winner of the Mod feature, while just to start the A-main will earn a driver $200.

Ashland’s Kevin Eder won two features during the 2016 Advantage RV Modified Series tour and finished in the top-ten in final Series points.

All five of ABC’s regular weekly racing divisions will be in action on this night. Defending track champ Neil Balduc of Bessemer, MI, garnered his first win of the season here in the Mod feature last Saturday, while Nick Oreskovich of Mason grabbed his second-straight win in the WISSOTA Super Stocks.

The WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature win went to Highbridge’s Wayne Stricker, while Tiffany Hudack of Ashland joined Oreskovich as a back-to-back winner in the ABC Six-Cylinder class.

Brule’s Kyle Copp became a first-time feature winner in the WISSOTA Pure Stocks at ABC last Saturday night.

Hot laps will start at 6:15 pm, followed by heat races at approximately 7 pm. Adult grandstand admission tickets are priced at just $18 each.

“Z-93 Race Night” will air on WBSZ, 93.3 FM, and stream live on www.wbszfm.com, from 4:30-6 pm with up-to-date track news and weather information.

The ABC Raceway is located 3-1/2 miles south of Ashland on State Highway 13 and one mile west on Butterworth Road. For raceday information call (715) 682-4990, or log on to the track’s website, www.abcraceway.com.
