Frederick crosses the checkers first but the win goes to Jacobsen at Outagamie Speedway

115 cars checked in for the Outagamie Speedway opener powered by EWSC Racing. Class totals were; 35 Stock Cars, 26 Modifieds, 23 Sport Mods, 16 Sport Compacts and 15 Street Stocks. Kyle Fredrick out lasted Justin Jacobsen to the checker but after infield tech, Frederick was disqualified and the win went to Jacobsen. Other feature winners were; Jamie Schmidt-IMCA Modified, Chris Budzban-IMCA Sport Mod, Mike Carter-Street Stock, Mitchell Mier-Sport Compacts.

Former National Champ Travis Van Straten paced the field early in the going of the IMCA Stock Car feature from his front row starting spot. Van Straten looked to have the field covered until late in the going as Justin Jacobson and Kyle Frederick began to apply heavy pressure to the leader. Frederick began working the highside after starting 11th, closing in on Van Straten. With 5 laps remaining Frederick and Jacobsen flew around Van Straten for first and second. Frederick pulled away, cruising to the checkers. The Frederick machine failed post race tech with a rev box infraction, handing the win over to Jacobson. Van Straten was second,. Chas Van Ooyen was third, Trent Nolan took fourth and Devin Snellenberger completed the top five. .

Race Van Pay led the first 6 laps IMCA Sport Mod feature until Travis Hansen came calling to the top spot on lap 7. Hansen held court as Chris Budzban worked his way through traffic and into the runner up position. Budzban then set his sights on Hansen. With only 4 laps remaining Buzban made his move down low, taking the lead and the win. His first ever in Seymour. Hansen had to settle for second, Van Pay was third, Kyle Raddant placed fourth and Keith Schmitt took fifth.

In IMCA Modified action Konnor Wilinski led until he lost the handle on lap 2, handing the lead over to Jamie Schmidt. TJ Smith made his presence felt, pulling even with Schmidt for the lead several times. Smiths mount ended with mechanical woes sending him pit side. Schmidt survived a green, white, checker finish to best Brian Mullen for the win. Mike Mullen charged to place third from 11th. Jason Czarapata and JJ Anderson rounded out the top five.

Jay Jenson looked to be the man to beat early in the Street Stock feature as he fended off challenges from Ryan Glembin. Mike Carter started in the 10th spot, worked his way through field and to Jenson’s rear bumper. Carter made his move down low on lap 11, taking the lead and scoring his first career feature win. Carter was trailed at the strip by Jenson, Glembin, Jordan Ross and Paul Ambrosius.

Mitchell Mier scored a clean sweep in the Sport Compact feature. Action was halted mid race as Brian Johnson flipped over his racer. Johnson emerged unscathed but his night was over. Roger Braun was second, Nick Everard placed third, Nathan Lisowe took fourth and Lindsey Mullen was fifth.
