Dave Bouche, Randy LeMieux Jr. & Scott Boulanger victorious in Hill Return
(Sturgeon Bay, WI) May 21, 2017 Race Story- Racing has officially returned to the Hill with 21 Stock Cars, 23 Sport Mods and 24 Street Stocks. 4-Time Stock Car Champion Dave Bouche led all 18 laps en route to another feature win at The Hill. Other feature winners were Randy LeMieux Jr.-Sport Mod, Scott Boulanger-Street Stock and Tory Peterson-Baby Bomber. PKS3 thanks all the fans, drivers and crews for coming out and making opening night a success.
Draw Redraw put the defending Stock Car Track Champion Dave Bouche on the pole for the 18 lap main event. Dave set the pace pulling away from Tony Bouche in the early going. A lone caution on lap 7 bunched the field. On the restart Tony and Trent Nolan ran on the bumper of Dave but as the race progressed, Dave found his groove and pulled away to a convincing win. Tony was second with Nolan third, Jamie Suchocki and Larry Karz completed the top five.
Dennis Miesler paced the opening laps of the Sport Mod feature until Luxemburg champ Randy LeMieux Jr. slid by for the top spot on lap 4. Jared Siefert made his return to the open wheel class borrowing Brandon Kaye’s racer. Siefert secured second with a handful of laps remaining but it wasn’t enough as LeMieux led the rest of the way to the checkers. Siefert was the runner-up, Miesler took third, Tom Stark took fourth and Sawyer Haese rounded out the top 5.
Luxemburg Speedway promoter Eric Mahlik strapped himself into John Hill’s Street Stock for the first time. Mahlik made a daring 3-wide pass on the opening lap of the feature to take the lead. Scott Boulanger sped through the field, closing in on Mahlik as the laps clicked by. Mahlik hit heavy lap traffic allowing Boulanger to make his move, slicing by Mahlik on the white flag lap. Boulanger led the final circuit on his way to victory lane. Mahlik had to settle for second, Dave DeGrave was third, Clint Evans was fourth and Aaron Thornton battled from 18th to place fifth.
Despite there being only 3 Baby Bombers on hand it may have been the race of the night. DJ Jorgeson was checked out and had the win in hand but his car broke a front axle ending his chances. This handed the lead over to Tory Peterson as Alex Van Boxel gave chase. Van Boxel looked inside Peterson as the entered turn 3 and heavy contact was made, sending Peterson rolling. Van Boxel was excused for the incident and the win went to Peterson.
The next of racing will take place on Sunday June 11 with a 2pm start time.
