April 2nd Wi Dirt Racin Update

So many things happening these days that I feel I should at least try to keep you updated. First, a reminder that if you are ordering a t-shirt, you only have until April 10th to place your order and get payment to me.

Next order of business. I have a bunch of panels from work that Vlies Custom Race Car Bodies is cutting into mini door panels for me. My intention is to have them wrapped at All Pro Custom Graphx and use them as trophies. My desire, is to have them on hand at every race that I attend, however for funding reasons that may be reduced to certain races or specials. Once I get an estimate, I’ll know better how to proceed with this plan.

We attended the NEW Motorama Car Show at the Brown County Veteran’s Memorial Arena and Shopko Hall yesterday. For the short time that we were there it looked like a great turnout. I think mixed events like this are a great opportunity for dirt track racing to attract fans from other motorsports. There was a wide variety of vehicles from cycles to hot rods, rat rods and off-road. Too many variations to mention. It was great to see local dirt tracks representing with dirt cars on hand. After speaking with representatives of our sport, it was nice to hear that there was new interest from people who really didn’t know that this community even existed. Let’s make it a point to try and take advantage of any opportunity we get.

To follow on the car show, talk to your sponsors. See if they would be willing to let you park outside there business for a day, where you can hand out schedules and talk to people about the sport.

Looks like spring is finally about ready to settle in. I see some track crews are getting out and working the clay. Practices are coming, with the season openers following. For me, this is the most exciting time of the year!
