BEAVER DAM, Wisc. — December 9, 2016 — The Eighth Annual Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial Presented by Karavan Trailers for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at Beaver Dam Raceway in Wisconsin is set for Saturday, June 24, 2017.

Bill Balog was victorious in the 2016 edition of the Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial, scoring his first career World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series win. The win was a popular one for the native of Alaska, who now calls Wisconsin home.

Joey Saldana is the only driver that has won the Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial more than once, taking the checkered flag in the inaugural race in 2010 and repeating in 2011. In each of the last six editions of the race, a different driver has visited victory lane, including eight-time series champion Donny Schatz, Brad Sweet, Craig Dollansky, Kraig Kinser, Saldana and Balog.

The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series first competed at Beaver Dam Raceway in 1996, with former series champion Dave Blaney picking up the win in that event. A total of 14 drivers have visited victory lane with the series at the track in 23 A-Feature events over the last 20 years. Saldana and Daryn Pittman each have three wins at Beaver Dam in World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series action to lead all drivers, while Schatz has reached victory lane twice at the high-banked, third-mile.

The 2016 campaign was a historic one for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series as Donny Schatz won his third straight championship and eighth overall. In the process, the North Dakota native became the first driver in series history to win 20-plus A-Feature events in four consecutive seasons, finishing the year with 25 A-Feature triumphs.

Schatz continues to add to his ever-growing win total with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series, which now stands at 229 A-Feature victories. Schatz is third on the all-time list, trailing only Hall of Famers Steve Kinser and Sammy Swindell.

A total of 17 drivers won A-Feature events with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series in 2016, including full-time series drivers: Pittman, who finished second in points, David Gravel, who was third in the standings, Sweet, who was fourth in points, Saldana, who was fifth in the final tally, Shane Stewart, who was just behind Saldana, along with Knoxville Nationals winner Jason Johnson, who was seventh in points, Logan Schuchart, who was eighth in the standings, Jason Sides, who was ninth and reigning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award winner Greg Wilson.
