(Green Bay, WI) September 13 – When author Joe Verdegan decided to hook up with M&B Global Solutions Inc. publishers Mike Dauplaise and Bonnie Groessl in 2015, Verdegan had no idea how well his book “Life In The Past Lane – A History Of Stock Car Racing in Northeast Wisconsin from 1950-1980” would be received by the local racing community.
Verdegan and his publishers found out very quickly how well received it would be during the first book signing at Green Bay’s Titletown Brewery in December 2015. “I knew I was in trouble when I had a pretty long line of customers waiting to get a book signed and my last box of books was nearly empty,” said Verdegan. “It’s been a great ride talking with fans who’ve shared their own stories and memories from racing over the years.”
Since the book was released a little less than a year ago, Verdegan has hosted 13 book signings at race tracks and racing-related trade shows across Wisconsin and Michigan.
On October 1, Verdegan will host the 14th and final book signing specific for “Life in the Past Lane.” The signing will take place at “The Evolution of the Race Car” show at Rickert Park in Freedom. The one-day show, spearheaded by Freedom native and noted race car builder Mike Randerson, will be the largest one-day show of race cars spanning several decades in the history of the United States. It will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“It’s fitting to have the final signing in Freedom, because we’ve got a chapter written about Mike (Randerson) in the book about his storied career locally and how he helped out many of the drivers,” said Verdegan. “This show will have something for fans of all generations.”
Accompanying Verdegan at his booth will be Manitowoc’s “Wild Bill” Fitzgerald, a former racer who’s featured on the front cover of the book. A vintage mini champ owned by Gerald Korinek of Manitowoc will also be on display at Verdegan’s show booth.
Verdegan and Dauplaise are currently putting the finishing touches on the second book in the series, “Wisconsin International Raceway – Where the Big Ones Run.” That book will be released December 3, 2016, at Titletown Brewery’s Tap Room from noon to 3 p.m.
“We will still be selling copies of ‘Life in the Past Lane’ at all of our book signings for the WIR book as well,” noted Verdegan.
The GPS address for the show in Freedom’s Rickert Park is N4045 McHugh Road, Freedom, Wisconsin, 54130. The December 3 book signing will feature several authors who’ve penned publications through M&B Global Solutions Inc.
