Champions Crowned at 141 Speedway
on August 29, 2016 at 5:29 pm(Francis Creek, WI)- The Championship Night has come and gone. Mother Nature decided to take a victory lap on Saturday Night. With the rainout, The Champions have been crowned in their respective divisions.
Johnny Whitman came in to 2016 with one goal in mind at 141 Speedway. The Three-peat. After all the dust had settled added with some rain drops, Whitman picked up his third consecutive IMCA Modified title. Whitman bested Jeremy Jacobs by 14 points for the title. R.M. VanPay, T.J. Smith and Jay Matthias rounded out the top five in points.
John Heinz returned to championship form at 141 Speedway in 2016. Heinz was tested early in the hunt for the title but pulled away gradually and won by 17 marks over Dave Bouche. Defending Champ, Brett Wenzel finished third in points. Rookie Driver, Aaron Stolp and Larry Karcz Jr tied in fourth.
Travis Arenz had a sophomore season in the IMCA Sportmods to be remembered. Arenz found victory lane a couple of times and was consistent on his way to a 25-point win in the standings. Cody Schroeder found himself in second when all was said and done. Bruce Belland made the long trek every week a successful one with a third place finish in the standings. Jacob Zellner beat out Billy Edler to secure fourth in points.
Another new face will have a Brian Peterson Builder’s Championship trophy waiting for him. Kodi Wirtz won a points battle that saw multiple point leaders throughout the season. Wirtz beat Logan Rhode by eight points for the crown. Early Point leader, Shawn Schmitt wound up third. Tim Mueller made a return to the divisions in 2016. He will finish fourth in the final tally. Terry Van Roy will finish fifth in the series.
2013 and 2015 Street Stock Champion, Paul Diefenthaler has reclaimed the top prize. Diefenthaler dominated the division and finished with a 46-point advantage. Andy Fuhrmann beat Erik Turner for the second spot. Mike Carter finished fourth ahead of Doug Engleking.
In a jam packed IMCA Sport Compact division which saw the top five all within 15 points, Mitch Meier will be top dog. Mike Meier will finish in second by one point over Tony Fletcher and Ethan Beattie. Brody Rivest finished fifth.
The IRA Sprint Cars will be in action this Sunday Night, September 4th. The INEX Legends, Grand Nationals and Street Stocks will also be competing.
