Rice Lake WI, August 27 – For the second straight Saturday and sixth of the 2016 racing season, the Rice Lake Speedway was rained out again on its second attempt to hold the Season Championships along with the UMSS Traditional Sprints.
Persistent showers followed by pesky drizzle, so light that it didn’t show on radar but heavy enough to keep the track from being worked in, made it impossible to run the program despite the strong desires of everyone to crown champions on Saturday. It was an especially tough year for the Sprint Cars which were booked twice at Rice Lake this year, only to get rained upon both times.

The Season Championships will now be held this coming Saturday, September 3rd for all five divisions that race at the speedway. All competitors are welcome to attend this race and participate as it is not a “closed” event and anyone, no matter how many many or few times they have raced at the track this year, is eligible to race.
Then, on Sunday, September 4th, the second half of the doubleheader and the final race of the 2016 race season, will be held with a full racing program in all five divisions again. Extra money will be on the line in all classes for the extra distance feature races.
On both nights, the cut off for drivers will be at 6:30 pm with racing to follow. The pits will open at 4 pm and the grandstands at 5 pm. For more late information on this event, check the speedway facebook page or call Dave Adams at 715-205-2861. On race day, the track phone number is 715-236-2002.
