Jim Falls, Wisconsin (August 14, 2016) The Eagle Valley Speedway finally returned to racing action after being rained out every scheduled night since rains fell after the heats on July 07, 2016. With no feature action since June, the Quality Propane race night was held on Sunday, August 14 with make up features and a complete show including all six classes of cars including the EVS Hornets, EVS Pure Stocks, and the WISSOTA Poly Dome Dirt Track Series sanctioned Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks, and Modifieds. Feature winners included Kevin Adams, Nick Koehler, Danny Richards, and George Richards, each twice. Other winners included Curt Myers, Tommy Richards, Derek Love, and Derrick Johnson.

The Modified Make up feature saw front row starter Kevin Adams move to the point as Mike Anderson followed into second. As Adams led the race, Anderson hunted the track for a way past. Although Adams led the entire distance, Anderson challenged by pulling even on the lowside at various times but had to settle for second. Ashley Anderson drove home to third followed by pole sitter Jeremy Gibson in fourth.

Adams doubled up in the second feature as he quickly moved to the lead and led every circuit as Ashley and then Mike Anderson trailed to the checkers. Jeremy Gibson finished fourth.

The Super Stock make up feature saw Curt Myers move from fourth to the lead in the first lap and stretch his advantage to the checkered flag. Danny Richards settled into second, and himself checked out on the remainder of the racers. A fine battle was held for third between Tommy Richards and Dan Nissalke with Nissalke winning out for the position.

The regular Super Stock feature looked like Curt Myers was going to earn his second feature win of the night. However, Tommy Richards had something else on his mind. Myers moved to the lap one lead and stretched his advantage as Richards raced his way to second. Danny Richards moved to third but it was Tommy who started to reel in the leader. Lap after lap, he closed until on the final corner of the event, he drove past Myers and on to the checkers. Myers settled for runner up, followed by Danny Richards..

The Midwest Modified make up feature was lead by Jake Smith as Shane Halopka moved to second and Nick Koehler found third in the high groove. It was Halopka who struck first as he moved past the leader on the outside. Smith was quick to battle back however and drove back below to the point. Once in front, Smith moved up the track as Koehler moved side by side with Halopka and and overtook the position. With two laps remaining, Koehler muscled past Smith for the lead down low and took control of the race. As Koehler drove to the checkered flag, Halopka overtook Smith for second. Behind the leaders, Antonio Pintaro and Denny Cutsforth closed out the top five.

The Midwest Modified feature saw a three car stack up on the start involving Mike Knopps, Shane Halopka, and Derek Haas, with Knopps being unable to continue. The restart saw Kyle Johnson own the lead and receive heavy pressure from Jason Richardson. The yellow flew again for a breakdown by Denny Cutsforth and Johnson once again held the lead on the drop of the green. Richardson challenged but Antonio Pintaro overtook him up high. It was Nick Koehler looking unbeatable as he moved to third and soon thereafter split the frontrunners for the lead. Koehler was dominate as he drove away to the checkers for his second win of the night. Five cars battled for second and Richardson was scored second followed by Shane Halopka, Jake Smith, Johnson, and Pintaro.

The Street Stock make up feature was slowed once for a lap one spin by pole sitter Dalton Hazelton, On the second attempt, Danny Richards found the lead and never looked back as he dominated his way to the checkers. Behind him, Mike Knudtson ran second as Ron Hanestad closed and took the position down low. Hazelton ran in fourth as the three finished a straightaway behind Richards.

The regular Street Stock feature saw a terrific race as the group went three wide for the lead in the first lap as Mike Knudtson took the point on lap two. Travis Hazelton and Ron Hanestad settled in behind him. Hanestad got the better of Hazelton as cars raced two wide in tow. Warren Hanson drew the first of two cautions as he spun in turn two. The leaders drove three wide on the restart but a spinning Bob Siedler drew the final caution. The restart saw Hanestad grab the lead as Knudtson raced door to door with Durand Peterson. Peterson took the position and challenged for the lead as Danny Richards found his groove and moved to second. Richards moved side by side with Peterson as the two were even at the line with three laps remaining. There was no change a lap later, but at the white flag, Richards had a slight advantage. A close finish saw Richards lead Peterson over the line by a car length as Knudtson claimed third over Hanestad.

The Pure Stock make up feature saw George Richards take the lead on lap one and drive the remainder to the checkers in the caution free event to yet another win. Richards won over Lucas Kallenback and Pat Smith.

The Pure Stock main event saw no surprises as it took only two laps for George Richards to find the lead and drive to the victory. Dean Pronschinske was the only other leader on the night as he led the first lap. Richards dominated as Tucker Quinn moved to second over Pronschinske, Jay Barnier, and Lucas Kallenback.

The Hornet make up feature was led early by Jason Bauer as Armond love moved from deep in the pack to grab the lead. A great race for third between the Prissels was settled when Chad took the position and then nabbed second from Bauer. It was Love driving to the win followed by Chad Prissel, Bauer, Dan Prissel and fifth finishing Ashley Seidler.

The Hornet feature saw a spinning Chad Prissel bring out the caution on the first lap. He was relegated to the rear on the restart and began his quest through the pack. Dean Butler took the lead initially until Derrick Johnson closed and took the position running low on the tack. Brad York and Derek Krumrie followed Johnson through to the front. Soon Chad Prissel cracked the top five and continued his charge through the faster group to grab the third position. York drove hard to catch the leader and closed the gap but fell short at the checkered flag as Johnson took the win. Armond Love made a last lap pass of Prissel to take back third as Prissel was relegated to fourth at the line.

The Eagle Valley Speedway will return to racing action on Thursday, August 18, 2016, with the 15th Annual Lonnie Leu Memorial sponsored by Lisa Leu and Krug Towing. In addition, THe Hornet Swarm will see the Hornets race for a $500 payday. To add to the excitement, it will also be the WISSOTA Race of Champions qualifier in each WISSOTA class. In case of a rainout, racing will be held Sunday, August 21, 2016. All six classes of cars with the EVS Hornets, EVS Pure Stocks, and the WISSOTA Poly Dome Dirt Track Series sanctioned Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks, and Modifieds will be in action. Thanks go out to the fine sponsors each week, including Oium Blacktop and Kelly Oium Well Drilling and Pump Service who give away a bicycle to one boy and one girl every racing night.
